Gustaf Ankarcrona
Sten Gustaf Herman Ankarcrona (11 May 1869, Huskvarna - 17 September 1933, Tällberg) was a Swedish painter. He was also known for his early efforts in historical and cultural preservation, especially in Dalarna. His paintings focused on rural subject matter, often depicted in winter settings. Biography He was a member of the noble Ankarcrona family. His father, Emil, was the Director of the Huskvarna Rifle Factory. Leksand
Leksand () is a locality and the seat of Leksand Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 5,934 inhabitants in 2010. Sport Leksand is famous for the Leksands IF ice hockey team, who have won 4 Swedish Championships, although the team is currently facing problems in performance when playing and they have received less funds. Leksand is also home to the Leksands Baseball and Softball Club, the oldest and one of the more successful baseball clubs in Sweden, having won 20 national championships in baseball and 7 in softball. The club was founded in the late 1950s and currently has about 130 members. Nationalmuseum
Nationalmuseum (or National Museum of Fine Arts) is the national gallery of Sweden, located on the peninsula Blasieholmen in central Stockholm. Erik Axel Karlfeldt
Erik Axel Karlfeldt (20 July 1864 – 8 April 1931) was a Swedish poet whose highly symbolist poetry masquerading as regionalism was popular and won him the 1931 Nobel Prize in Literature posthumously after he had been nominated by Nathan Söderblom, member of the Swedish Academy. Artur Hazelius
Artur Immanuel Hazelius (30 November 1833 – 27 May 1901) was a Swedish teacher, scholar, folklorist and museum director. He was the founder of both the Nordic Museum (''Nordiska museet'') and the Skansen open-air museum in Stockholm. Background Hazelius was born in Stockholm, Sweden as the son of Johan August Hazelius (1797–1871), a Swedish Army officer (with terminal rank of major general), politician and publicist. He entered Uppsala University in 1854, and received his Ph.D. degree in 1860, after which he worked as a teacher, as well as participating in several school-book and language reform projects. In 1869 Hazelius was the secretary of the Swedish section at the Scandinavian orthographic congress in Stockholm (), and published its proceedings in 1871. Gustaf Theodor Wallén (14 December 1860, Stockholm - 15 January 1948, Leksand), was a Swedish painter, graphic artist, and sculptor. Biography He was born to Fritz Leonard Wallén, a master carpenter, and his wife, Maria Gustava née Östergren. He began his studies in 1878, at a vocational school operated by the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, but applied for admission to the Academy itself the following year. The Düsseldorf school of painting is a term referring to a group of painters who taught or studied at the Düsseldorf Academy (now the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf or Düsseldorf State Art Academy) during the 1830s and 1840s, when the Academy was directed by the painter Wilhelm von Schadow. About The work of the Düsseldorf School is characterized by finely detailed yet fanciful landscapes, often with religious or allegorical stories set in the landscapes.
