Gus The Groundhog
Gus is the "spokesgroundhog" in more than 80 commercials for the instant scratch-off lottery games run by the Pennsylvania Lottery from 2004–2012 and 2015–present. The original concept for Gus was created by MARC USA, an advertising agency based in Pittsburgh, PA. The concept was brought to life as an animatronic groundhog, created in 2004 by The Character Shop, Inc., a Cinema of the United States, Hollywood creature effects company. Gus is billed as the "second most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania", as a nod to Punxsutawney Phil. His tag line is "keep on scratchin'!" Gus appears in television commercials at the beginning of many months during the year and throughout the winter holiday season. Jeff Bergman
Jeffrey Bergman (born July 10, 1960) is an American voice actor and impressionist who has provided the modern-day voices of various classic cartoon characters, most notably with ''Looney Tunes'' and Hanna-Barbera. Bergman was the first to replace Mel Blanc as the voice of Bugs Bunny and several other Warner Bros. cartoon characters following Blanc's death in 1989. Bergman shared the roles of Blanc's characters with Greg Burson and Joe Alaskey before their respective deaths in 2008 and 2016, as well as Bob Bergen, Billy West, Jim Cummings, Maurice LaMarche, Fred Tatasciore, and Eric Bauza for various Warner Bros. Punxsutawney Phil is the name given to a groundhog residing in Young Township near Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, who is the central figure in Punxsutawney's annual Groundhog Day celebration. Folklore On February 2 each year, Punxsutawney holds a civic festival with music and food.
