Gus Varland
Augustus James Varland (born November 6, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Milwaukee Brewers. Career Varland graduated from North High School in North St. Paul, Minnesota and played college baseball at Concordia University, St. Paul. In 31 games at college, he was 16–7 with a 3.04 ERA. He also played in summer leagues for the Utica Blue Sox of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League. Oakland Athletics The Oakland Athletics selected Varland in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB draft. He split his first professional season between the rookie-level Arizona League Athletics, Low-A Vermont Lake Monsters, and Single-A Beloit Snappers. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Willmar Stingers
The Willmar Stingers are a baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League, a Collegiate summer baseball, collegiate summer baseball league. The Stingers played their inaugural season in 2010. The team plays its home games at Bill Taunton Stadium, Baker Field at Bill Taunton Stadium. On June 3, 2010, the franchise's first ever hit and run were recorded by former Willmar Cardinal and current Cleveland Indians minor leaguer Jordan Smith. The Stingers were honored with the Northwoods League Organization of the Year Award in 2010. Wichita Wind Surge
The Wichita Wind Surge are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. They are located in Wichita, Kansas, and began play in 2021 at Riverfront Stadium. The Wind Surge were supposed to begin play in 2020 as the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins in the Pacific Coast League. However, a combination of the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Major League Baseball's realignment of the minor leagues for 2021, resulted in the team dropping down to Double-A as affiliates of the Twins without having played a Triple-A game. The Tulsa Drillers are a minor league baseball team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The team, which plays in the Texas League, is the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers major-league club. Stadium The Drillers play at ONEOK Field (pronounced "one-oak"), in downtown Tulsa's Greenwood district.
