Gus Theron
Johan Tertius "Gus" Theron (born 10 January 1975) is a South African former professional rugby union player. Theron played mainly on the wing and at centre. Early life Gus Theron was born in Robertson in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, about northeast of Cape Town. He attended Robertson Primary School and Robertson Secondary School. After school he attended the University of Stellenbosch. In 1998, 2000 and 2006 he played for Maties, the university's team that competed in the annual club championships. Professional career 1998–2000 Gus Theron started playing for Western Province in the first season of the Vodacom Cup in 1998. During that same year he made his debut in the Currie Cup for Western Province. In 1999 and 2000 he again played Vodacom Cup rugby for Western Province, but was also selected for the Stormers squad for the Super 12 competition. Robertson, Western Cape
Robertson is a town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa founded on the theft of KHOIKHOI First nation land and cattle, known as the valley of wine and roses, at the heart of the wine route - Route 62 (South Africa), Route 62. Khoikhoi First nation land was stolen in 1853 and named after Dr , a Scotland, Scottish Dutch Reformed Church minister. Situated in the fertile Robertson Valley, farming and wagon building were the town's original industries. However, after the Second Second Boer War, Anglo-Boer War of 1899, the wagon building industry collapsed when the railways took over the transport of all goods. Robertson subsequently became famous for its ostrich farming, but this industry collapsed as well shortly after World War I, and the farmers of the area turned to wine and fruit farming. Rudolf Straeuli
Rudolf August Wilkens Straeuli (born 20 August 1963 in Pretoria, South Africa) is a former South African rugby union player and coach and currently the CEO of the Lions Rugby Company. He played in the positions of flanker and Number 8, making ten test appearances for South Africa in 1994 and 1995. He was the coach of the Springboks rugby team in 2002 and 2003. He also played for the provincial team in the Currie Cup and Super 12 competitions. Playing career Straeuli played his first in provincial rugby in 1990 for and from 1993 he played for . During 1993 he also toured with the South African Barbarians to the United Kingdom. Straeuli made his debut for South Africa on 9 July 1994 against the All Blacks, in which he also scored a try. The Stormers (known for sponsorship reasons as the DHL Stormers) is a South African professional rugby union team based in Cape Town in the Western Cape that competes in the United Rugby Championship, a trans-hemispheric competition that also involves sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. They competed in the Super Rugby competition until 2020. They are centred on the Western Province Currie Cup side, but also draw players from the Boland Cavaliers (covering the Cape Winelands and West Coast districts, with home matches in Wellington).
