Guro Pettersen
Guro Pettersen (born 22 August 1991) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Frauen-Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. She has represented Norway internationally in youth teams and made her debut for the Norway national team on 7 April 2022 at the age of 30. Club career Pettersen started her career in Fløya in 2008, moving south in 2012 to Stabæk and Vålerenga (two periods in each). Between 2007 and 2014 she also played for Norwegian age-specific national teams. She first got national media attention, when tweeting that she should show the Stabæk manager "some of my other qualities", in order to dethrone Ingrid Hjelmseth as first-choice goalkeeper. Ingrid Hjelmseth
Ingrid Hjelmseth (born 10 April 1980) is a former Norwegian football goalkeeper. She was Norway's No. 1 for a decade, and her former club Stabæk name her a legend. Career Originally from Skjetten, she was the Norway national team's reserve keeper from 2003 onwards, and played for Trondheims-Ørn in the elite Toppserien league for seven seasons while at university, with 217 appearances for the club. In 2006, her last year in goal at Trondheims-Ørn, the club conceded only ten goals in the entire Toppserien season of (at that time) 18 matches. At the beginning of 2007 she moved back to Oslo to start work as a professional engineer at Det Norske Veritas and now works in DNV Software. At the same time she joined Asker FK as first keeper. Goals scored by goalkeepers are a somewhat rare event in football. Goalkeepers spend the majority of a match in the penalty area of their own team, a marked area around the goal they are defending in which they can handle the ball, in order to defend their goal. The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup is scheduled to be the ninth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup competition, the quadrennial international women's football championship contested by the women's national association football teams organised by FIFA. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the first time that the FIFA Women's World Cup will have two host nations and is scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August 2023.
