Guram Sagaradze (actor)
Guram Sagaradze (, also transliterated as Sagharadze; 12 January 1929 – 17 January 2013) was a Georgian actor whose career spanned more than 60 years and was principally associated with the Rustaveli Theatre. Biography Sagaradze was born into the family of the theatre actor Giorgi Sagaradze in Tbilisi in 1929. In 1951, he graduated from the Tbilisi State Theatrical Institute and joined the Rustaveli Theatre troupe, with which he made much of his fame and popularity, including for his memorable performance as Prince Kazbeki in Robert Sturua's production of ''The Caucasian Chalk Circle'' by Bertolt Brecht. He also made over a dozen appearances in the Georgian cinema. He was honored as the People's Artist of Georgia (1973) and decorated with the Shota Rustaveli State Prize (1976), the USSR State Prize (1979), the Order of Honour of Georgia (1998), and the State Prize of Georgia (1999). Didube Pantheon
The Didube Pantheon ( ka, დიდუბის მწერალთა და საზოგადო მოღვაწეთა პანთეონი) is a cemetery in Tbilisi, Georgia, where some of the most prominent writers, artists, scholars, scientists and political activists of Georgia are buried. These include Zurab Zhvania (1963–2005), who served as Prime Minister of Georgia in 2004. The cemetery was opened in 1939. The pantheon is located in the Didube District. Orders, decorations, and medals of Georgia are the orders, state decorations and medals that are granted by the national government of Georgia for meritorious achievements in national defense, state improvement, and the development of democracy and human rights. They may be granted to any citizen of Georgia and to people with foreign citizenship or without any citizenship. Individuals may also be honored posthumously with state awards. Rustaveli Theatre
Rustaveli National Theatre ( ka, შოთა რუსთაველის სახელობის აკადემიური თეატრი ) is the largest and one of the oldest theaters of Georgia, located in its capital Tbilisi on Rustaveli Avenue. Housed in an ornate Rococo-style edifice, the theatre was founded in 1887 and since 1921 has carried the name of Georgia's national poet Rustaveli. History and architecture The building was founded in 1887 as an "Artists' Society". Upon request of the Artists' Society, several celebrated artists were commissioned to paint frescoes on the walls and ceilings of the basement. These artists included prominent Georgian painters Lado Gudiashvili and David Kakabadze, as well as theatre set designer Serge Sudeikin, who is known for his work for the Ballets Russes and the Metropolitan Opera.
