Gunship (band)
Gunship is a British synthwave band formed in 2014 by Dan Haigh and Alex Westaway; they were later joined by drummer Alex Gingell. History After Westaway and Haigh's other musical act, Fightstar, went on hiatus in 2010, the pair decided to focus on other musical ventures, including forming Gunship, eventually joined by Gingell. Their debut release, self-titled ''Gunship'', was released in 2015 to positive reviews. Their follow up, ''Dark All Day'', was released 5 October 2018. In 2019, Gunship appeared in the documentary film ''The Rise of the Synths,'' which explored the origins and growth of the Synthwave genre. Westaway, Haigh and Gingell appeared alongside various other composers from the scene, including John Carpenter, who also starred in and narrated the film. In May of 2021, tattoo artist and model Kat Von D collaborated with Haigh on her debut album, ''Love Made Me Do It''. Synthwave
Synthwave (also called outrun, retrowave, or futuresynth) is an electronic music microgenre that is based predominantly on the music associated with action, science-fiction, and horror film soundtracks of the 1980s. Other influences are drawn from the decade's art and video games. Synthwave musicians often espouse nostalgia for 1980s culture and attempt to capture the era's atmosphere and celebrate it. The genre developed in the mid-to late 2000s through French house producers, as well as younger artists who were inspired by the 2002 video game '' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City''. Other reference points included composers John Carpenter, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis (especially his score for the 1982 film ''Blade Runner''), and Tangerine Dream. The Lost Boys
''The Lost Boys'' is a 1987 American supernatural black comedy horror film directed by Joel Schumacher, produced by Harvey Bernhard with a screenplay written by Jeffrey Boam, Janice Fischer and James Jeremias, from a story by Fischer and Jeremias. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Power Glove (band)
Power Glove is an Australian electronic music and synthwave duo from Melbourne, Victoria, named after the Nintendo Power Glove. They provided the soundtrack to the 1980s-influenced retro-futuristic video game '' Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon'' (April 2013). The soundtrack was met with critical acclaim. History Power Glove was formed in Melbourne as the electronic music, synthwave duo (under pseudonyms) of Michael Biehn and Michael Dudikoff. In reality, the duo consists of brothers Jarome and Joel Harmsworth. The Harmsworths chose the name "Power Glove" based on a self-described obsession with Nintendo's 1989 Powerglove commercials. The duo's music gained widespread attention with the track "Hunters" featured in the 2011 Canadian independent film ''Hobo with a Shotgun'' and the track "Vengeance" was used in the 2012 film ''The ABCs of Death''. Thomas McLaughlin (born September 20, 1979), better known by his stage name McRocklin, is an English guitar player, music producer and mastering engineer. He was the guitarist featured in Steve Vai's music video "The Audience is Listening" (1990). He then became the lead guitarist in Bad4Good, a band produced by Vai in 1991. He is currently the lead guitarist and co-producer of the band McRocklin & Hutch. Biography McRocklin started playing the guitar at the age of four. By the time he was seven, he was performing onstage. His first big break came when he opened for Ozzy Osbourne in his hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne, at just eight years old. Una Theresa Imogene Healy (born 10 October 1981) is an Irish singer. She rose to fame in 2008 as a member of five-piece girl group The Saturdays, who are signed to Fascination and Polydor Records. In 2006, she represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest, where she sang with Brian Kennedy on the song "Every Song Is a Cry for Love"; they placed tenth overall. Lauren Henson, better known by her stage name Indiana, is a British singer-songwriter from Loughborough. Her 2015 debut album, '' No Romeo'', includes the UK top 20 single " Solo Dancing" (2014). Biography Henson began writing songs in 2010, after she taught herself to play piano using one that she was storing temporarily for her sister. She was approached by musician John Beck after she uploaded a cover of one of his compositions, "Gabriel", to the video sharing website YouTube.
