Gunerius Pettersen (1826–1892)
Gunerius Pettersen (18 September 1826 – 2 April 1892) was a Norwegian businessperson. He founded the company Gunerius Pettersen, today named Gunerius Shoppingsenter. He hailed from Drøbak, but moved to Oslo, Christiania (Oslo) in 1840 to learn the commercial trade. He took apprenticeship at merchant Skappel's shop, and made several advancements there until opening his own business in 1852. He started with an eponymous grocery store, located in ''Brogaten 8''. He also had his residence in a backroom of the store. In 1854, Pettersen bought, and moved his store to a building, ''Storgaten 34'' on the corner of the streets ''Brogaten'' and ''Storgaten''. From the start he specialized in serving the travelling farmers who sold goods in the city, but from 1870 he switched to selling dry goods. Gunerius Shoppingsenter is one of the largest shopping malls, shopping centres in Oslo, Norway, with c. 18,000 visitors a day – 5,5 million a year. The first shopping centre on this location was opened in 1852 by Gunerius Pettersen (1826–1892), Gunerius Pettersen. In 1992 it was significantly expanded, and it is now 9,500 m² with c. 30 stores on three floors. Gunerius Shoppingsenter is owned by Olav Thon. Suzann Pettersen
Suzann Pettersen (born 7 April 1981) is a retired Norwegian professional golfer. She played mainly on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour, and was also a member of the Ladies European Tour. Her career best world ranking was second and she held that position several times, most recently from August 2011 until February 2012. She retired on 15 September 2019 after holing the winning putt for the European team at the 2019 Solheim Cup, notwithstanding that she had been away from golf for almost 20 months on maternity leave prior to the event. Gunerius Pettersen (4 June 1921 – 6 May 2012), also known as Gun Pettersen, was a Norwegian businessperson. He was born at the islet Lille Herbern, and grew up in Frogner. He was a grandson of merchant Axel Pettersen, who owned the company Gunerius Pettersen A/S (now: Gunerius Shoppingsenter). Axel owned the company, which was founded by Gunerius Pettersen, together with Harald, Gunerius and Carl Pettersen who were all Gunerius Pettersen's granduncles. A fourth granduncle was Hjalmar Pettersen, the noted a librarian and bibliographer. Pettersen attended Oslo Commerce School and took higher education in St. Gallen. He inherited the family company in 1947, and owned it for some time together with Hjalmar's son Christian Børs Pettersen. Later, his own brother Axel Gunerius Pettersen replaced Christian Børs Pettersen as co-owner. Hjalmar Marius Pettersen (13 January 1856 – 18 January 1928) was a Norwegian librarian and bibliographer, best known for editing the '' Bibliotheca Norvegica'', a bibliography of Norwegian literature. Born in the country's capital to a family of means, he became early a voracious reader, eventually embarking on a philological career. After longer stays in Paris, a city he adored, he sought a post at the University Library of Oslo, becoming employed as its lecturer in 1887. During the 1890s Pettersen published numerous bibliographies, having procured exotic works from foreign libraries. After the exit of his fellow librarian Jens Braage Halvorsen from the University Library, Pettersen occupied the position as chief librarian. Biography He was born in Christiania as a son of merchant Gunerius Pettersen (1826–1892) and his wife Iverine, née Grorud (1828–1905). One of his brothers, Hjalmar Pettersen, was a noted a librarian and bibliographer. Three other brothers, Gunerius, Axel and Carl, were Harald's business partners.
