Steven Gundry
Steven R. Gundry (born July 11, 1950) is an American physician and low-carbohydrate diet author. He is a former cardiac surgeon and cardiac surgery researcher, who currently runs his own experimental clinic investigating the impact of diet on health. Gundry was involved in a case in 1990 where an infant with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (a usually fatal disease requiring multiple operations), avoided heart transplant surgery after spontaneously healing. Gundry is the author of ''The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain'', which promotes the controversial lectin-free diet. He is known for his disputed claims that lectins, a type of plant protein found in numerous foods, cause inflammation resulting in many modern diseases. Inglis Gundry
Inglis Gundry (8 May 1905 – 13 April 2000) was an English composer, novelist, musicologist, music pedagogue and writer. He is particularly remembered for his operas and for his numerous books; not only on music, but on a broad array of historical subjects. For five decades he lectured on music appreciation for WEA London and also taught on the music faculties at the University of Cambridge, the University of London, and the University of Surrey. Life and career Born in Wimbledon to parents of Cornish descent, Gundry had a passion for Cornish culture and played an instrumental role in preserving Cornish folk songs and carols with the publication of ''Canow Kernow: Songs and Dances of Cornwall'' (1966). The Gundry Sanitarium, also known variously as the Relay Sanitarium, Lewis Gundry Sanitarium, Gundry Hospital, and Conrad Sanitarium, was a medical institution established in 1900 in Southwest Baltimore City, Maryland. The building, originally named "Athol," was constructed in 1880 as a residence for Charles J. Nathaniel Gundry
Sir Nathaniel Gundry (1701?–1754), was an English lawyer and politician. Gundry was born at Lyme Regis, and entered as a member of the Middle Temple in 1720. In 1725 he was called to the bar, when he migrated to Lincoln's Inn. At the dissolution in 1741 he was returned to parliament for the borough of Dorchester, and was re-elected in 1747. He took his place among the opponents of Sir Robert Walpole, and on their triumph he was made a king's counsel, when Sir Charles Hanbury Williams wrote: 'That his Majesty might not want good and able counsellors learned in the law, lo ! Murray the orator and Nathaniel Gundry were appointed King's counsel'. His practice justified his being regarded as a candidate for the office of solicitor-general, but he was passed by, possibly because, as the satirists alleged, his manners were stiff and pretentious.
