Adolf Gundersen
Adolf Gundersen (October 8, 1865 – September 15, 1938) was a Norwegian born, American physician and founder of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Background Adolf Gundersen was born in the parish of Åsnes in the traditional region of Solør in the county of Hedmark, Norway. He received his professional training in Norway and graduated from the Royal University of Oslo in 1890. Career Gundersen came to La Crosse, Wisconsin to join the medical practice of Christian Christensen. In 1893, he married Helga Sara Isaksetre (1867–1951), with whom he had eight children. Four of the sons, Gunnar, Alf, Sigurd B. Sr. and Thorolf, joined their father in his first clinic, which opened in 1930 on the outskirts of the city. In 1944, Gundersen's physician sons created Gundersen Medical Foundation (now the foundation supporting Gundersen Health System). Rudolf Gundersen (6 December 1879 – 21 August 1946) was a Norwegian speed skater. He represented ''Kristiania Skøiteklub'' and was among the world's best skaters around the start of the 20th century. __NOTOC__ Gundersen made his Norwegian National Allround Championships debut in 1899 and promptly finished second, an achievement he would repeat the next year. In 1901, Gundersen became both Norwegian and European Allround Champion. Oscar Christian Gundersen
Oscar Christian Gundersen (17 March 1908 – 21 February 1991) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. During his student days he was a member of Mot Dag. Gundersen graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1931. During Gerhardsen's Second Cabinet he was appointed Minister of Justice and the Police, a post he a year into the new Torp's Cabinet. He left in 1952 and became a Supreme Court Justice the next year. In 1958 he left that position to become Norwegian ambassador to the Soviet Union, a post he held until 1961. He was then appointed Minister of Trade and Shipping from 1962 to 1963 during the third cabinet Gerhardsen. In August 1963 the cabinet Lyng assumed office, but a fourth cabinet Gerhardsen returned to power a month later. Gundersen was now Minister of Justice and the Police again, a post he held until the fourth cabinet Gerhardsen fell in 1965. Lauren Gunderson (born February 5, 1982) is an American playwright, screenwriter, and short story author, born in Atlanta. She lives in San Francisco, where she teaches playwriting. Henry Gundersen (3 March 1920 – 17 March 1945) was a Norwegian resistance member who was executed during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. He was born in Glemmen, and lived in Oslo. He was educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry, and worked at the Norwegian Mapping and Cadastre Authority, then known as ''Norges Geografiske Oppmåling''. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, he became involved in Milorg, and was involved in several sabotage missions. His last mission was ''Aksjon smør'', in which Milorg men stole foodstuffs from two warehouses, one in the street ''Tollbugata'' belonging to German forces, and one in the street ''Skippergata'' belonging to Arbeidstjenesten. The foodstuffs were distributed to Milorg men who hid in the forests surrounding Oslo. Arnold "Arnie" Gundersen (born January 4, 1949 in Elizabeth, New Jersey) is a former nuclear industry executive, and engineer with more than 44 years of nuclear industry experience who became a whistleblower in 1990. Gundersen has written dozens of expert reports for nongovernment organizations and the state of Vermont. Gunderson was a licensed reactor operator from 1971-1972 on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's zero-power open-pool university research reactor at the Reactor Critical Facility in Schenectady, New York, where he was a nuclear engineering graduate student.
