Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park
The Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park ( ur, گلشن-اقبال پارک) is a large park and recreational space in Lahore, Pakistan. With an area of over , the park is one of the largest in the city. It is situated in the suburban locality of Allama Iqbal Town. The name ''Gulshan-e-Iqbal'' is literally translated as "''the garden of Iqbal''," referring to Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. It has many recreational rides for children and adults making it a popular venue for families. It also features a vast artificial lake and a mini-zoo. The park had some issues regarding security. The park is well maintained by the local council, with new playing areas and rides being added recently due to increased public interest. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Lahore
Gulshan-e-Iqbal ( ur, ) is a large middle-class to upper middle class (Block 15,16,17,18) residential and commercial neighborhood in the Karachi East district of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was previously administered as part of the Gulshan Town borough, which was disbanded in 2011. The name "Gulshan-e-Iqbal" means "the garden of Iqbal", referring to the national poet of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. It has notable gardens. The municipal infrastructure of Gulshan-e-Iqbal is in a bad shape especially following the monsoon rains of 2022. Allama Iqbal Town ( ur, ) (also known as Iqbal Town or abbreviated as AIT) is a commercial and a residential locality in the south-western Lahore. It is named after Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. Development was started in the late 1970s and early 1980s. 2016 Lahore Suicide Bombing
On 27 March 2016, on Easter Sunday, at least 75 people were killed (29 fatalities being children), and over 340 were injured, in a suicide bombing that hit the main entrance of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, one of the largest parks in Lahore, Pakistan. The attack targeted Christians who were celebrating Easter. The majority of the victims were women and children. Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack led to worldwide condemnation and national mourning throughout Pakistan. Pakistan also launched a widespread counter-terrorism operation in South Punjab, arresting more than 200 people who may have had a possible connection to the attack.
