Gullspång Municipality
Gullspång Municipality (''Gullspångs kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the towns of Gullspång and Hova. The present municipality was formed through the amalgamation of the former entities of Amnehärad, Hova and part of Visnum. The name was taken from the locality Gullspång. Geography Gullspång Municipality borders to Mariestad Municipality and Töreboda Municipality in Västra Götaland County It also borders on Laxå Municipality in Örebro County to the east and on Kristinehamn Municipality in Värmland County to the north. The southern part of the municipality contains the northern part of Swedish national park Tiveden. Mariestad Municipality (''Mariestads kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Mariestad. Vänern
Vänern ( , also , ) is the largest lake in Sweden, the largest lake in the European Union and the third-largest lake of all Europe after Ladoga and Onega in Russia. It is located in the provinces of Västergötland, Dalsland, and Värmland in the southwest of the country. With its surface located at with a maximum depth of , the lowest point of the Vänern basin is at below sea level. The average depth is at a more modest , which means that the average point of the lake floor remains above sea level. Degerfors Municipality
Degerfors Municipality (''Degerfors kommun'') is a municipality in Örebro County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Degerfors. The northern part of the municipality was before 1925 part of Karlskoga Municipality, from which it was detached to form a new entity. It became a market town (''köping'') in 1943. Södra Råda Old Church
Södra Råda Old Church ( sv, Södra Råda gamla kyrka) was an early 14th-century timbered church in the parish of Södra Råda in Gullspång Municipality, Västra Götaland in Sweden. It was one of the oldest preserved wooden churches in the country. The paintings covering the walls and the trefoil-shaped wooden ceiling of the church were considered one of the best and best-preserved examples of Scandinavian wall-painting from the Middle Ages. The oldest, anonymous, paintings in the chancel dated to 1323. Later paintings in the nave dated from 1493 and were signed by a painter named . The church was burnt down on 12 November 2001. A mentally ill man convicted for the murder of a five-year-old girl in 2003 also confessed to and was convicted for the burning of the church. Otterbäcken right on the shores of Vänern is a locality situated in Gullspång Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 722 inhabitants in 2010. Business In Otterbäcken is a plywood factory run by Moelven-Vänerply. The plant is capable of producing 95,000 m³ of plywood a year. Tiveden is a long and wide densely forested rocky ridge in Sweden, throughout history notorious for its wilderness and dangers; historically a hiding place for outlaws.
