''Golden Sands'' () is a 1984 Icelandic comedy film directed by Ágúst Guðmundsson, starring Arnar Jónsson, Edda Björgvinsdóttir and Pálmi Gestsson. It tells the story of a rumor about gold being hidden in the sands of south coast Iceland, which causes turbulence for the local community. The film was released in Icelandic cinemas on 26 December 1984. Ágúst Guðmundsson
Ágúst Guðmundsson (born 29 June 1947) is an Icelandic film director and screenwriter. He studied French, Icelandic in Reykjavík and filmmaking at the National Film School in London. He has made many popular Icelandic films that have also been translated into other languages. His 1998 film '' The Dance'' was entered into the 21st Moscow International Film Festival where he won the Silver St. George for Best Director. He is currently director of BÍL, The Federation of Icelandic Artists. Daryl Runswick
Daryl Runswick (born 12 October 1946) is a classically trained English composer, arranger, jazz musician, producer and educationalist. Career Runswick was born in Leicester, and educated at Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He started playing bass with leading UK jazz musicians in the mid-1960s, including Dick Morrissey and John Dankworth, with whom he would tour and compose for extensively for some 12 years. In 1969, he was a member of the Lionel Grigson- Pete Burden Quintet, and in 1972 he played and recorded with the Ian Hamer Septet, a band in which he coincided with Tubby Hayes, among others, and throughout the 1970s he was also a member of the London Jazz Four. As a session musician he later branched out into more popular music, including appearing on the first The Alan Parsons Project recording and working with Elton John. Guðný Halldórsdóttir (born 23 January 1954) is an Icelandic film director and screenwriter. She has directed eight films since 1984, including ''Under the Glacier'' and ''The Honour of the House''. She wrote the screenplay for 1986 comedy ''Stella í orlofi'' (''Stella on Vacation'') and directed its 2002 sequel, ''Stella í framboði'' (''Stella running for Office''). Arnar Jónsson (born 21 January 1943) is an Icelandic actor. He has played more leading roles in theaters than any other Icelandic actor. Guðbjörg Edda Björgvinsdóttir (born 13 September 1952), better known as Edda Björgvinsdóttir, is an Icelandic actress, comedian, writer, director and motivational speaker. Pálmi Gestsson (born 2 October 1957) is an Icelandic actor and voice actor. He is known for the long-running Icelandic sketch group ''Spaugstofan'' which he co-created. Among his voice acting is the Icelandic voice of Shere Khan in ''The Jungle Book''. Early life Pálmi was born in 1957 in Bolungarvík, the Westfjords, Iceland. Björgvin Helgi Halldórsson (Alternate names: Bó Halldórsson, Björgvin Halldórsson or Bó Hall) (born 16 April 1951) is an Icelandic pop singer from Hafnarfjörður. He represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 with the song '' Núna'' (English: Now), ranked in 15th place with 31 points. Sigurður Sigurjónsson, commonly referred to as Siggi Sigurjóns, is an Icelandic actor, comedian and screenwriter, best known as a member of the comedy group Spaugstofan. He has starred in a number of films and television series since the late 1970s, as well as acting in the National Theatre of Iceland. He is famous for his recurring characters in the ''Spaugstofan'' television series, including Ragnar Reykás and ''Kristján Ólafsson''. Ómar Þorfinnur Ragnarsson (born 16 September 1940) is an Icelandic environment activist and former entertainer, news reporter and rally driver. Born in Reykjavík, Ómar began acting on stage at the age of 12 and started his career as a stand-up comedian when he was 18. He has written a considerable number of songs and lyrics, performed by him or other Icelandic pop artists. Ómar studied law and has been a professional aviator and pilot since 1967.
