Ashbel Green Gulliver
Ashbel Green Gulliver (November 23, 1897, Connecticut - July 3, 1974, Hanover, New Hampshire) was the dean of Yale Law School from 1940 to 1946. His nickname was "Pail"—from ashpail. Early life Gulliver went to Groton School for high school. He received a B.A. from Yale University in 1919, where he was secretary of the Elizabethan Club and a member of the Wolf's Head secret society. Yale Law School Gulliver graduated with an LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1922. He was the class valedictorian. While at Yale Law School, he was on the '' Yale Law Journal'' and served as its secretary. After graduating, he worked at Alexander & Green, which was founded by Ashbel Green, his grandfather. Gulliver became an assistant professor at Yale Law School in 1927, and a full professor in 1935. In 1934, he became assistant dean of Yale Law School. Richard James Gulliver (born 20 November 1942) is a former English cricketer. Gulliver was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Bowerchalke, Wiltshire. Gulliver made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Wiltshire in 1966 against Berkshire. From 1966 to 1983, he represented the county in 98 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Devon. He also represented Wiltshire in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. He played 3 matches for the county in that competition, 2 in 1983 which came against Norfolk and Cheshire and a single match in 1984 against Dorset. Gulliver also represented Wiltshire in List A matches. Stuart Thomson Gulliver (born 9 March 1959) is a British banker, and the former group chief executive of HSBC. He was succeeded on 21 February 2018 by John Flint. Philip Stephen Gulliver (born 12 September 1982) is an English footballer who played in the Football League for Blackpool, Carlisle United, AFC Bournemouth, Bury, Scunthorpe United, Rushden & Diamonds and Hereford United.
