Mohe () is a county-level city in Daxing'anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang province. It is the northernmost city in China. Administrative divisions Mohe City is divided into 6 towns: Geography Mohe is located in the far northwest of Heilongjiang at latitude 52° 10'−53° 33' N and 121° 07'−124° 20' E. It forms a border with Russia's Amur Oblast and Zabaykalsky Krai, where the Amur River flows for . A village, the northernmost Chinese settlement, at the latitude of 53° 29' N known as the Beiji Village (, literally "North Pole Village" or "Northernmost Village") lies in this city, on the Amur River. On extremely rare occasions, the aurora borealis can be seen. Mohe spans from north to south and has a total area of , occupying 21.6% of the prefecture's (Daxing'anling) area and 3.9% of the provincial (Heilongjiang) area. Mohe Gulian Airport is an airport serving Mohe County in Heilongjiang Province, China. It is the northernmost airport in China and the first Chinese airport built on permafrost Permafrost is ground that continuously remains below 0 °C (32 °F) for two or more years, located on land or under the ocean. Most common in the Northern Hemisphere, around 15% of the Northern Hemisphere or 11% of the global surface .... Construction started in June 2006 with a total investment of 236 million yuan, and the airport was opened in June 2008. The airport closed in July 2021 for expansion and renovation of the airport. Service resumed on 27 January 2023. Facilities The airport has one runway that is 2,800 meters long and 45 meters wide, and a 2,000 square-meter terminal building. Gulian Verplanck (February 10, 1751 – November 20, 1799) was an American banker and politician. Early life Verplanck was born in February 1751 and was only nine months old when his father died. He was the youngest of the six children of Gulian Verplanck (1698–1751) and Mary (née Crommelin) Verplanck, who married in 1737. His father had been a fourth generation New Yorker who owned significant property and amassed a considerable fortune.Narrett, David E. Mount Gulian
Mount Gulian is a reconstructed 18th century Dutch manor house on the Hudson River in the town of Fishkill, New York, United States of America. The original house served as the headquarters of Major General Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben during the American Revolutionary War and was the place where the Society of the Cincinnati was founded. The site is registered as a National Historic Landmark. History Archeological studies indicate intermittent Native Americans presence since 6,000 BC. The land on which the house stands was purchased from the Wappinger Native Americans by two fur traders, Francis Rombout and Gulian Verplanck on August 8, 1683. In exchange for 85,000 acres (344 square kilometers) of land, they paid about 1,250 dollars in goods. The Rombout Patent which formally granted the land to Francis Rombout and Gulian Verplanck was issued by King James II of England on October 17, 1685.
