Gulfam (film)
''Gulfam'' is a Pakistani costume film directed by S. Suleman in his directorial debut. It was produced by Darpan under his production banner Darpan Productions, who also played the leading role alongside Musarrat Nazir. The supporting actors include Nazar, S. Suleman and Talish. The music was composed by Rashid Attre with lyrics by Habib Jalib and Tanvir Naqvi. The film received a Nigar Award for best editing. Darpan (actor)
Syed Ishrat Abbas ( ur, ), (1928 – 8 November 1980) better known by his stage name Darpan ( ur, ), was one of the original romantic heroes of the "golden age" of Pakistan's film industry (also commonly known as Lollywood). Background Syed Ishrat Abbas was born into a middle-class Shia Islam, Shia Muslim family originally from the United Provinces of British India, United Provinces of British Raj, India, where he was born in 1928. His older brother, Syed Musa Raza, Santosh Kumar, was also a film actor. Another brother, S. Sulaiman, is a film director. Career Darpan was introduced in the film ''Amanat'' in 1950 and went on to feature in the Pakistani Punjabi film ''Billo'' in 1951. Naseem Begum
Naseem Begum ( ur, ), (24 February 1936 – 29 September 1971) was a popular, and well known Pakistani film playback singer. She was known as ''The Tradegy Queen'' for singing sorrowful and downhearted songs in films. She rose to prominence towards the end of the 1950s, and by 1964, she had won the prestigious Nigar Awards on four occasions. Despite originally being billed as a ''Second Noor Jehan'', Naseem Begum quickly carved out her own successful niche in the Pakistani film industry. She was the original singer of the popular song "Aye Rahe Haq Ke Shaheedo". Early life Naseem Begum was born in the city of Amritsar, British India, in 1936. Naheed Niazi (born 26 February 1941) is a former Pakistani playback singer who performed in the Lollywood movies during the era of 1960s. She is married to musician Muslehuddin; her sister is the singer Najma Niazi. She is known for her playback songs, "Chali Re Chali Re Main To Des Piya Ke Chali Re", "Raat Saloni Ayi", and others. Life and career Naheed was born as Shahida Niazi on 26 February 1941. Her father Sajjad Sarwar Khan Niazi was a poet and musician, and was also a director at Radio Pakistan. Saleem Raza (singer)
Noel Dias (4 March 1932 – 25 November 1983), better known as Saleem Raza ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer. He started his singing career from Lahore, Pakistan and quickly gained popularity. Raza was a classically- trained singer and was more famous for singing sad songs. Raza's career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and moved to Canada where he died in 1983. Career Saleem Raza was born Noel Dias in a Christian family. Musarrat Nazir Khawaja ( ur, ; born 13 October 1937) is a Pakistani singer and film actress, who acted in many Urdu and Punjabi films. She, many years later, also sang solo, mostly wedding and folk songs. Early life Her parents were a Punjabi middle-class family Kashmiri origin from Lahore. Her father Khwaja Nazir Ahmed, worked as a registered contractor in Lahore Municipal corporation. Early in her life, her parents wanted her to be a doctor, and provided her with the best possible education they could afford. The Nigar Awards ( ur, , translit=Inʿām Negār, lit=Picture Awards) were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists.
