Gulch (band)
Gulch was an American hardcore punk band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2016. The band released only one studio album ''Impenetrable Cerebral Fortress'' (2020), as well as two EPs and one demo tape. They performed their final live performance on July 31, 2022, at the peak of their popularity. The ''New York Times'' credited them as one of the driving forces of American hardcore's "Rennaissance" in the 2020s. History Gulch formed in 2016 in Santa Cruz, California, releasing the demo tape ''Demolition Of Human Construct'' on January 16, 2017. Following the release of their debut EP ''Burning Desire to Draw Last Breath'' on August 10, 2018, the band began to gain national notoriety, soon playing outside of the Bay Area for the first time. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Early mathcore lyrics were addressed from a realistic worldview and with a pessimistic, defiant, resentful or sarcastic point of view. Crust punk (also known as crust or stenchcore) is a form of music influenced by English punk rock and extreme metal. The style, which evolved in the early 1980s in England, often has songs with dark and pessimistic lyrics that linger on political and social ills. Metallic Hardcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Pixies (band)
Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts.
