Gujarat Giants (formerly known as Gujarat Fortune Giants) is a professional kabaddi team based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is currently led by Fazel Atrachali and coached by Ram Mehar Singh. The team is owned by Adani Group, Adani Wilmar Ltd. The Giants play their home matches at The Arena (Ahmedabad), The Arena by TransStadia. They reached the final in both of their attempts in 2017 Pro Kabaddi League season, 2017 and 2018–19 Pro Kabaddi League season, 2018, finishing runner's up on both occasions to the Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls respectively. Kabaddi
Kabaddi is a contact team sport. Played between two teams of seven players, the objective of the game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of the court, touch out as many of their players and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders in 30 seconds. Points are scored for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider. Players are taken out of the game if they are touched or tackled, but are brought back in for each point scored by their team from a tag or a tackle. The dhoti, also known as veshti, vetti, dhuti, mardani, chaadra, dhotar, jaiñboh, panchey, is a type of sarong, tied in a manner that outwardly resembles "loose trousers". Tamil Thalaivas is a Kabaddi team based in Tamil Nadu that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is owned by the consortium called Magnum Sports Private Limited, the parent company of Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters FC. Actor Vijay Sethupathi is the brand ambassador of the team. Tamil Thalaivas play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Chennai), Tamil Nadu. Since making its debut in the PKL, it hasn't had much success after finishing rock bottom in Zone B, both in 2017 and 2018-19.
