André Guillaumin
Andr̩ Louis Joseph Edmond Armand Guillaumin (21 June 1885 in Arrou Р29 May 1974 in Athis-Mons) was a French Botany, botanist. He obtained his License#Academy, license in biology in 1906 and began work in the ''Mus̩um national d'histoire naturelle'' in Paris in 1909 as a preparer. He obtained a doctorate in Doctor of Biological Science, biological science in 1910 and became assistant to the chair of botany and plant physiology. In 1932 he succeeded D̩sir̩ Georges Jean Marie Bois (1856-1946) as head of the department of horticulture at the museum. He became the deputy director of the museum from 1947 to 1950, retiring in 1956. Armand Guillaumin
Armand Guillaumin (; February 16, 1841 – June 26, 1927) was a French impressionist painter and lithographer. Biography Early years Born Jean-Baptiste Armand Guillaumin in Paris, he worked at his uncle's lingerie shop while attending evening drawing lessons. He also worked for a French government railway before studying at the Académie Suisse in 1861. There, he met Paul Cézanne and Camille Pissarro, with whom he maintained lifelong friendships. While he never achieved the stature of these two, his influence on their work was significant. With these two friends, Guillaumin exhibited at the Salon des Refusés in 1863.The three artists frequently painted in each other's company in the 1870s; for a time, Guillaumin and Cézanne had studios next door to each other on the ÃŽle Saint-Louis in Paris. Claude Guillaumin (11 August 1842 – 9 March 1927) or ''Édouard Pépin'' was a French painter and caricaturist. Life and career He was born on 11 August 1842 in Moulins. He was one of the Republicans exiled to Algeria during the suppression of the uprisings against the Coup of 2 December 1851. This incident affected the young Claude Guillaumin, who opposed bonapartism and all forms of despotism. Using the pseudonym Pépin, he made his cartoonist debut at the end of the Second Empire at ''La Lune'' (from 1866), ''La Rue de Jules Vallès'' (1867-1868), then ''L'Éclipse''. Pépin's cartoons have appeared on the cover of L'Éclipse many times. In the early part of the Third Republic, Pépin began drawing in 1875 for '' Le Grelot'', for which he had drawn most of the covers between 1876 and 1879, thus replacing Alfred Le Petit. Guillaumin is an important theorist of the mechanisms of racism and sexism, and relations of domination. She is also an important figure in materialist feminism. Gilbert-Urbain Guillaumin (14 August 1801 15 December 1864) was a French publisher who campaigned for liberalism. Personal life Orphaned at five years old, he was raised by a strict uncle whom he left to start his life in Paris in 1819. He began as an employee at a hardware store before founding his bookshop, and then starting a publishing house. He raised two daughters alone, having been left a widower early.
