Guildford Town Centre (mall)
Guildford Town Centre is a shopping mall located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It opened on November 8, 1966, and is owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge, a Quebec-based real estate company. It is the largest mall in the Lower Mainland south of the Fraser River as well as the third-largest in British Columbia, after Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby and Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver. The shopping centre has over 250 stores, services, and restaurants with a gross leasable area of and its anchors include Hudson's Bay, Walmart, London Drugs, Old Navy, Uniqlo, and Sport Chek. For its 50th anniversary in 2016, it attempted to set the Guinness World Record for the world's largest carrot cake. Redevelopment A three-phase redevelopment project began in June 2010. Surrey is a city in British Columbia, Canada. It is located south of the Fraser River on the Canada–United States border. It is a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver regional district and metropolitan area. Sport Chek is the largest Canadian retailer of sporting clothing and sports equipment, with 191 stores throughout Canada as of 2020. It is the only national big box sporting goods retailer in Canada, although it is absent in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, while Quebec and Yukon are served by its sister brand Sports Experts instead. SkyTrain is the Medium-capacity rail system, medium-capacity rapid transit system in the Metro Vancouver Regional District, serving Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Surrey Light Rail system was a planned network in Surrey, British Columbia containing one light rail line radiating from the SkyTrain station and transit hub. First proposed in 2012 by Surrey mayor Dianne Watts, construction on the project was planned to start in 2019 with an opening date set for 2024.
