Guglielmo Caccia
Guglielmo Caccia called il Moncalvo (9 May 15681625) was an Italian painter of sacred subjects in a Mannerism, Mannerist style. Biography He was born in Montabone near Acqui Terme, Acqui. He is said to have been a pupil of Lorenzo Sabbatini. He started painting in Milan, then worked in Pavia, where he was made a citizen. He also painted in Novara, Vercelli, Alessandria, and Turin, and Genoa. His best work, ''Deposition from the Cross'', is at the church of San Gaudenzio, Novara. He also painted for the cupola of the dome of San Paolo in Novara. He painted for the Church of the Conventuali in Moncalvo. He painted a ''St. Anthony Abbot with St Paul'' for the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, Milan, Sant'Antonio Abate in Milan. He painted in the Sacro Monte di Crea. He was a collaborator in some works with Gaudenzio Ferrari. Daniele Crespi and Giorgio Alberino were among his pupils, as was his daughter, Orsola Caccia, Orsola. Daniele Crespi
Daniele Crespi (159819 July 1630) was an Italian painter and draughtsman. He is regarded as one of the most original artists working in Milan in the 1620s. He broke away from the exaggerated manner of Lombard Mannerism in favour of an early Baroque style, distinguished by clarity of form and content. Thomas Roscoe (Liverpool 23 June 1791 – 24 September 1871 London) was an English author and translator. Life The fifth son of William Roscoe, he was born in Toxteth Park, Liverpool in 1791, and educated by Dr. W. Shepherd and by Mr. Lloyd, a private tutor. Soon after his father's financial troubles in 1816, which led to bankruptcy, Roscoe began to write in local magazines and journals, and he continued to follow literature as a profession. He died at age 80, on 24 September 1871, at Acacia Road, St. John's Wood, London. Casale Monferrato
Casale Monferrato () is a town in the Piedmont region of Italy, in the province of Alessandria. It is situated about east of Turin on the right bank of the Po, where the river runs at the foot of the Montferrat hills. Beyond the river lies the vast plain of the Po valley. An ancient Roman ''municipium'', the town has been the most important trade and manufacturing centre of the area for centuries. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Casale became a free municipality and, in the 15th and early 16th centuries, served as the capital of the House of Palaiologos. San Michele is a Renaissance-style, Roman Catholic church located on Via della Rovere, in Casale Monferrato, Province of Alessandria, region of Piedmont, Italy. History This church or oratory was erected by the Confraternity of San Michele, also called dei Nobili (aristocracy), which was granted in the 16th century this land next to the Cathedral cemetery. The nave is octagonal in shape and has a cupola frescoed starting in 1597 by Giovanni Antonio Cassano. The frescoes depict the ''Stories of the Archangels Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel''. The frescoes are ringed with grotesque decorations. In 1601, the interior had stucco decoration.
