''Guerres mondiales et conflits contemporains'' ( French, literally "World Wars and Contemporary Conflicts") is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal covering the history of modern conflicts, until 1987 with a particular focus on World War II. It is published by the Presses Universitaires de France. The journal was established in 1949 as the ''Cahiers d'histoire de la guerre''. In 1950 it was renamed as ''Revue d'histoire de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale'' and in 1982 as ''Revue d'histoire de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale et des conflits contemporains'', before obtaining its current title in 1987. The founding editor-in-chief was Henri Michel. Currently, the editor-in-chief is Chantal Metzger. Presses universitaires de France (PUF, English: ''University Press of France''), founded in 1921 by Paul Angoulvent (1899–1976), is the largest French university publishing house. Recent company history The financial and legal structure of the Presses Universitaires de France were completely restructured in 2000 and the original cooperative structure was abandoned. Companies that took stakes in PUF included Flammarion Publishing (17% in 2000, 18% currently) and insurer Maaf Assurances (9%, 8% currently). The International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS) is a bibliography for social science and interdisciplinary research. ''Current Contents'' is a rapid alerting service database from Clarivate Analytics, formerly the Institute for Scientific Information and Thomson Reuters. It is published online and in several different printed subject sections. History ''Current Contents'' was first published in paper format, in a single edition devoted only to biology and medicine. Other subject editions were added later. Initially, it consisted simply of a reproduction of the title pages from several hundred major peer-reviewed scientific journals, and was published weekly, with the issues containing title pages from journal issues only a few weeks previously, a shorter time lag than any service then available.
