Guerin College Preparatory High School
Guerin Preparatory High School was a private, Roman Catholic high school in River Grove, Illinois, United States. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Guerin was established in 1962 as Mother Theodore Guerin High School, an all-girls school, by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The sisters named the school after their congregation's foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin. The school was renamed when it became coeducational in 2004 and absorbed the students from the all-male Holy Cross High School after that school closed. Holy Cross High School had been opened in 1961. Guerin closed permanently after the 2019–20 academic year due to declining enrollment, increased need in financial aid for students, and lower than expected fundraising results. River Grove is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 10,612 at the 2020 census. Geography River Grove is located at (41.925830, -87.840135). East Suburban Catholic Conference
The East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) is an athletic conference consisting of 9 Catholic high schools in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois (though despite its name, two schools are located in the city itself). The conference became independent in 1974. While originally only supporting competition in men's sports, the conference began supporting women's athletics in 1991. Today, there are eleven women's teams and ten men's teams. Despite not being as old as other conferences, and not having any women's sports until relatively recent history, the teams in the conference have finished in the top four oIllinois High School Association(IHSA) sponsored state tournaments 76 times in nine different sports. The Suburban Christian Conference was a system of Christian schools in Chicago's suburbs organized to compete against each other athletically. History Formerly called the Suburban Catholic Conference, the conference changed its name to the Suburban Christian Conference in 2009 and include four new schools, three of which are from the disbanding Private School League. During the 2013-2014, seven members decided to move to the Metro Suburban Conference, effective during the 2014-2015 academic year.
