Guennady Moisseev
Guennady Anatolyevich Moiseev (russian: Генна́дий Анато́льевич Моисе́ев; February 3, 1948 – July 23, 2017) was a Russians, Russian former Grand Prix motocross racer. He was a three-time 250cc motocross List of motocross World Championship results, world champion. Motorcycle racing career Moiseev was born in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad Oblast. He decided to take up the sport of motocross after witnessing the 1964 Motocross World Championship round held in Leningrad. In the same year, he was admitted to the motocross section of the Leningrad Pioneers Palace. He competed in his first world championship event in 1967 and won the Russian 250cc Motocross National Championship in 1970. He was the 1974 FIM Motocross World Championship season, 1974 Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. world champion in the 250cc class on a KTM motorcycle. 1977 FIM Motocross World Championship Season
The 1977 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 21st F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Heikki Mikkola rejoined the 500cc class in 1977 after winning the 1976 250cc world championship. Now riding for the Yamaha factory racing team, he continued his old rivalry with Suzuki's Roger De Coster. Mikkola won 12 motos to clinch the title ahead of Suzuki teammates De Coster and Gerrit Wolsink. Brad Lackey switched to the Honda racing team and became the first American to score an overall victory in a 500cc motocross world championship Grand Prix when he won the British Grand Prix. Similar systems still exist today in several former Soviet republics. The 1979 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 23rd F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Graham Noyce won the 1979 500cc world championship for the Honda factory racing team, marking Honda's first ever motocross world championship as well as the first motocross world championship for a British rider since Jeff Smith in 1965. Yamaha's defending champion Heikki Mikkola struggled to recover from a broken leg suffered in preseason. Noyce's consistent results earned him the championship points lead at the midpoint of the season with Suzuki's Gerrit Wolsink, Mikkola and Kawasaki's Brad Lackey within reach of the points lead. The 1978 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 22nd Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Heikki Mikkola successfully defended his 500cc world championship for Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha, finishing ahead of Honda's Brad Lackey. Mikkola dominated the season with 14 moto victories in 24 outings. Roger De Coster had a serious accident during pre-season training and ended up having his spleen removed but, recovered to finish the season in third place.
