Gudesteus (Bishop Of Oviedo)
Gudesteus or Gudesteo (died 1008x12) was the tenth bishop of Oviedo. He served as an auxiliary bishop to Bishop Bermudo, perhaps by then old and physically weak, from at least 978 and succeeded him as sole bishop on his death, probably in 992. On folio 49 of the '' Libro gótico de los testamentos'' of Oviedo, Bermudo and Gudesteus appear beside each in a miniature illustration. Auxiliary bishop Gudesteus was an Asturian by birth and his parents had left him properties in Lena. Gudesteus's first recorded action as auxiliary bishop was to witness a charter on 10 July 978, with Bermudo not present. On 24 April 984 he calls himself ''Ouetensis sedis episcopo'' ("bishop of the see of Oviedo"), again with no reference to Bermudo, though the senior bishop confirmed many other documents in the 980s. A document of 29 July 991 by which King Bermudo II donated a village in Asturias to Bishop Savaric of León, signed only by Gudesteus and not Bermudo, may indicate that by then the latter ... Juan Manuel Martínez Ugarte (1 June 1735 – 30 April 1801), known as Manuel Risco or Padre Risco, was a Spanish historian. Born at Haro, he took the Augustinian habit at the Convento de Nuestra Señora del Risco in the Diocese of Ávila. He studied at the University of Salamanca and was a disciple of Enrique Flórez, who took him along with him on his voyages of historical research. On Flórez's death Risco took over the unfinished Church history of Spain, '' España Sagrada''. By then he was Jefe de Estudios at the Convento de Doña María de Aragón. He published thirteen volumes of the ''España Sagrada'', from thirty to forty-two, inclusive. Morella () is an ancient walled city located on a hill-top in the province of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain. The town is the capital and administrative centre of the ''comarca'' of Els Ports, in the historic Maestrat (Maestrazgo) region. Elvira Menéndez (Portuguese and Galician: ; 2 December 1022) was a queen consort of Leon by marriage to King Alfonso V. Life She was a member of the highest ranks of the nobility of Portugal and Galicia as the daughter of count Menendo González, Count of Portucale and his wife Toda (also known as Tutadomna, Tota). She became Queen of León as the wife of King Alfonso V with whom she was raised as a child. Her father, Menendo, was a member of the curia regis of King Bermudo II of León and the tutor and co-regent, jointly with Queen Elvira Garcia, of ''Infante'' Alfonso, who later ruled as Alfonso V of León.
