Ilha Comprida
Ilha Comprida (Portuguese for "long island") is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. Stretching southwest along the Atlantic coast of the state, it is coextensive with the barrier island of Ilha Comprida, the longest of its kind in the state (). The municipality was founded in 1993 after the merger of the part of Ilha Comprida that belonged to the city of Cananéia with the section of the island that was administered by the city of Iguape. The Ilha Comprida has an average annual temperature of 24 °C. The population is 11,362 (2020 est.) in an area of 192.1 km2. An area of relevant ecological interest ( pt, Área de Relevante Interesse Ecológico, Arie) is a type of protected area of Brazil with unusual natural features and with little or no human occupation. Definition "Area of relevant ecological interest" is among the types of sustainable use protected area defined by Law No. 9.985 of 18 July 2000, which established the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC). It is generally a small area with little or no human occupation that has unique natural features or that harbours rare examples of regional biota. It was created to maintain these natural ecosystems of regional or local importance, and to regulate the permissible use of these areas where compatible with the objectives of conservation of nature. Iguape is a municipality located into the Ribeira Valley in the southern portion of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The population is 30,989 (2020 estimate) in an area of , making it the largest municipality area in São Paulo state.
