Guaraní Futebol Clube
Guarani Futebol Clube, colloquially called Guarani, is a Brazilian association football club in Campinas, São Paulo. Guarani is the only club not based in a state capital or coastal city to have won the top tier of the Brazilian Championship. The team currently play in the Série C, the third tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Paulista Série A1, the top tier of the São Paulo state football league. It is also known as Bugre, a popular term for an Indigenous Brazilian, and its supporters are known as ''bugrinos''. History Guarani Football Club was founded on April 1, 1911, in the city of Campinas, São Paulo, as Guarany Foot-Ball Club, by the initiative of 12 students from the Gymnasio do Estado (now Culto à Ciência). Estádio Brinco De Ouro
The Estádio Brinco de Ouro da Princesa ("Princess' Golden Earring Stadium"), also known as Estádio Brinco de Ouro ("Golden Earring Stadium"), or just Brinco de Ouro ("Golden Earring"), is a football stadium inaugurated on May 31, 1953 in Campinas, São Paulo state, Brazil with a maximum capacity of 29,130 people. The stadium is owned by Guarani Futebol Clube and has a pitch size of 105,12m x 70,12m (today is 105m x 68m) Brinco de Ouro's architects were Ícaro de Castro Mello and Osvaldo Correio Gonçalves. 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B
In 2009, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, the second level of the Brazilian League, was contested by 20 clubs from May 8 to November 29, 2009. Top four teams in the table would eventually qualify to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A to be contested in 2010, meanwhile the bottom four would be relegated to Série C next season. Three former Brazilian champions played in this edition. Vasco da Gama was relegated for the first time in history, meanwhile Bahia and Guarani came back from Série C in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Also playing for the first time was Duque de Caxias, which was promoted along with Atlético Goianiense and Campinense. After spending a single season in Série A, Ipatinga and Portuguesa had returned to Série B along with Figueirense, which was playing top-level since 2002. Copa União
Copa União (Union Cup) was the official name given by the Clube dos 13 (Club Of The 13) organization to the Green Module of the 1987 Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol. The 1987 edition of Campeonato Brasileiro had two modules: Green (Copa União) and Yellow. The Green Module was won by Flamengo. The Yellow Module was won by Sport Recife. According to the championship rules, the winners and runner-ups of both modules should play a final four tournament. The winners would then decide the championship. However, Flamengo and Internacional, champion and runner-up of Copa União, respectively, refused to play the matches against Sport and Guarani, champion and runner-up of the Yellow Module and were disqualified. The 1986 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A was the 30th edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. São Paulo won the championship. Overview and format The 1986 tournament ranks as one of the most controversial ever, alongside 1987. For its detractors, it apparently revived old devils from late 1970s by featuring back a single division with 80 teams, allegedly for political reasons as CBF sought support from smaller teams against growing criticism of the top traditional clubs. These in turn saw this as weaker revenue possibilities, exemplified by 1985 final play-offs, combined with real increased competitiveness from these smaller provincial clubs, now also at national league level.
