Guanella Pass
Guanella Pass (elevation ) is a high mountain pass in central Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States. The pass is located in southwestern Clear Creek County, in the Front Range west of Denver and south of Georgetown. The pass was named in 1953 for Byron Guanella, a road supervisor and commissioner in Clear Creek County for nearly 50 years. The pass provides a route between Georgetown in the valley of Clear Creek to the north and Grant in the valley of Geneva Creek, a tributary of the North Fork South Platte River, to the south. The pass is traversed by the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway. The road provides a link between Interstate 70 to the north and U.S. Highway 285 to the south. The entire route from Georgetown to U.S. Highway 285 is paved. The road is no longer maintained in the winter and expect closure after the first heavy snow in the winter. Mount Bierstadt
Mount Bierstadt is a mountain summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in the U.S. state of Colorado. The fourteener is located in the Mount Evans Wilderness of Pike National Forest, south by east ( bearing 171°) of the Town of Georgetown in Clear Creek County. It was named in honor of Albert Bierstadt, an American landscape painter who made the first recorded summit of the mountain in 1863. Mountain Mount Bierstadt is located west by south of Mount Evans and west by south of downtown Denver. Geneva Basin Ski Area
Geneva Basin (originally Indianhead Ski Area) was a ski area in the western United States, located in Clear Creek and Park County, Colorado, north of the community of Grant and south of the town of Georgetown. It is situated south of Guanella Pass at an elevation of . Opened in 1961 as Indianhead Ski Area, the ski area operated under various owners before closing in 1984. The ski area is located within the Pike National Forest and was operated under permit from the United States Forest Service. North Fork South Platte River
The North Fork South Platte River is a tributary of the South Platte River, approximately 50 miles (80 km) long, in central Colorado in the United States. The river is located near the headwaters of the South Platte in the Rocky Mountains southwest of Denver, draining a rugged area of the Front Range just south of the basin of Clear Creek. It rises at the continental divide near Webster Pass (Colorado) in northwestern Park County, flows through a canyon to the southeast, and is joined by Geneva Creek at the town of Grant. Downstream from Grant it is followed by U.S. Highway 285 until Bailey, where it cuts through a remote section of the foothills. The Guanella Pass Scenic Byway is a National Forest Scenic Byway and Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway located in Clear Creek and Park counties, Colorado, USA. The byway traverses Guanella Pass at elevation in Arapaho and Pike national forests. The pass lies above timberline surrounded by Grays Peak at elevation , Torreys Peak , Mount Evans , and Mount Bierstadt .
