Guam Davis Cup Team
Guam Davis Cup team is a team that represents the island of Guam in Davis Cup tennis competition and is governed by the Guam National Tennis Federation, the governing body of Guam. Guam first competed in the Davis Cup in 2018 and is currently competing in Group II of the Asia/Oceania Zone. History Before competing as an independent team, Guam was a part of the Pacific Oceania team with their first appearance being in 1995 until 2017 with only Daniel Llarenas securing a spot on the team playing between 2011 and 2016. In 2018, they played their first Davis Cup as an independent in Group IV of the Asian zone where the team would finish in second place in their group. The following year, they opened with a 2–1 victory over Mongolia After consecutive 3-0 sweeps to Jordan and Turkmenistan, Guam finished equal ninth with a 2–1 victory over Bahrain. 2018 Davis Cup
The 2018 Davis Cup was the 107th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by BNP Paribas. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. The Pacific Oceania Davis Cup team represents the island nations in Oceania, excluding Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Oceania Tennis Federation. The Asia/Oceania Zone was the unique zone within Group 4 of the regional Davis Cup competition in 2018. 2019 Davis Cup
The 2019 Davis Cup was the 108th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by Rakuten. For this edition, the format of the cup was changed. The main modification is the World Group took place at one location and in one week, with eighteen teams divided in six round-robin groups of three teams each, with the winners of the groups and the two best second places advancing to quarterfinals.
