''Guacamelee!'' is a Metroidvania action platforming video game developed and published by DrinkBox Studios, initially launched in April 2013 for platforms PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita and was later ported to Microsoft Windows in August and to OS X and Linux in February 2014. An enhanced edition entitled ''Super Turbo Championship Edition'' was released for Wii U, Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in July 2014 and later on the Nintendo Switch in October 2018. Drinkbox Studios Inc. is a Canadian video game developer based in Toronto. The company was founded in April 2008 by Chris Harvey, Ryan MacLean and Graham Smith, three programmers previously employed by Pseudo Interactive, which closed earlier that year. Rom Di Prisco (sometimes known as Morphadron) is a Canadian composer and producer. He has provided music for over 30 video games, including ''Guacamelee!'', '' Unreal Tournament 3'', ''SSX Tricky'', '' Spy Hunter 2'', ''NHL'' series, '' Need for Speed series'' (2-5), He also produces remixes for other artists including Christopher Lawrence, Unit:187, 3kStatic, and Count Your Curses. Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. ''Guacamelee! 2'' is a Metroidvania platform video game developed and published by DrinkBox Studios. A sequel to '' Guacamelee!'', the game was released for PlayStation 4 and Windows in August 2018 while the Nintendo Switch version was released on December 10. The Xbox One version was released on January 18, 2019. The game received generally positive reviews upon release. Gameplay ''Guacamelee! 2'' is a Metroidvania platform game. The player controls Juan Aguacate, a luchador who fights with punches, kicks, and wrestling grapples. Over the course of the game, Juan re-acquires many of his powers from the previous game, many of which have both combat and movement applications - for example the Rooster Uppercut, which grants vertical mobility while also attacking enemies overhead and breaking like-coloured obstacles.
