Grythyttan
Grythyttan is a urban areas of Sweden, locality situated in Hällefors Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden with 891 inhabitants in 2010. It is located between two lakes, Torrvarpen and Sör-Älgen. It is chiefly known in Sweden for the Grythyttan Gästgivargård (restaurant), made famous by its proprietor Carl Jan Granqvist in the late 1970s, and patronised by the pop group ABBA in the 1980s. Other local institutions include the chef and restaurant management school Grythyttan School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Meal Science, part of Örebro University, the Cookbook museum, Grythyttan Stålmöbler (garden furniture) and Neerings ice cream and chocolate factory and kiosk. Grythyttan School Of Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Meal Science
Grythyttan School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts & Meal Science is part of Örebro University and is an important center for Swedish gastronomy. The school is located in Grythyttan, 80 km north of Örebro and one of the main buildings is called Måltidens Hus, which is shown in the picture on the right hand side. Carl Jan Granqvist
Carl Jan Erik Granqvist (born 22 March 1946), is a Swedish restaurateur, food and wine connoisseur and television personality, as well as professor in the art of food at the ''Norsk hotellhøgskole'' in Stavanger, which is part of the University of Stavanger. He studied art history at Stockholm University between 1967 and 1968. Between 1969 and 1970, he studied at Virginska restaurangskolan, a restaurant school, in Örebro. He has also done an internship at Operakällaren between 1970 and 1972. Carl Jan Granqvist became the kellermeister of Grythyttans gästgivaregård in 1972 and was later responsible for creating Måltidens hus and the Restaurant school in Grythyttan. He was a pioneer in Sweden with the sapere method which means that the composition of a meal not only considers the taste but also the other senses of the guest. Örebro University ( sv, Örebro universitet) is a state university in Örebro, Sweden. The university has its roots in the Örebro campus of Uppsala University, which became an independent state university college in 1977, Örebro University College (''Högskolan i Örebro''). Hällefors Municipality
Hällefors Municipality (''Hällefors kommun'') is a municipality in Örebro County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Hällefors. The amalgamations connected with the 1971 municipal reform took place already in 1967 when "old" Hällefors was amalgamated with Grythyttan and the parish of Hjulsjö, which 1965-1966 temporarily had been in Nora Municipality. The municipality has a beautiful nature with many different activities.
