''Gruey'' is a 1988 BBC TV children's comedy about the misadventures and escapades of Stephen 'Gruey' Grucock, a mischievous schoolboy in the '' Jennings'' and ''Just William ''Just William'' is the first book of children's short stories about the young school boy William Brown, written by Richmal Crompton, and published in 1922. Kieran O'Brien
Kieran O'Brien (born 1973) is an English actor. Early life and education Born in Oldham, Lancashire, O'Brien grew up in nearby Royton, and was educated at the Bishop Henshaw Roman Catholic Memorial High School in Rochdale. Career O'Brien began acting at an early age and was the star of BBC TV series ''Gruey'' by the time he was 15. He also featured in several other series at the time in one-off or recurring roles. In 1993, he played the role of Joe Egerton and then Craig Lee in ''Coronation Street'' and then the role of Lee Jones in ''Children's Ward''. In 1993 he also became a regular in the detective series '' Cracker'', as the titular character's son. In 1999, O'Brien appeared in his first feature film, ''Virtual Sexuality''. In 2001 he played the role of Private Allen Vest in HBO's acclaimed series '' Band of Brothers'' where he played a prominent part in the episode 'The Last Patrol'. Casey-Lee Jolleys
Casey-Lee Jolleys (born 1974) is a British actress, dancer and performer. Originally from Billinge in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Jolleys began performing at an early age and by the age of nine, had become a three-time world champion in ballet, tap and modern dance styles, making television appearances in the process. By the late 1980s, she was a co-presenter of the BBC Saturday morning children's programme ''It's Wicked!'' (produced by BBC North West) and was appearing as Annie Mappin in the BBC comedy-drama series ''Gruey'' and the sequel, ''Gruey Twoey''. Jolleys returned to presenting around 1999 as a continuity presenter for Channel 5's children's programming strand ''Milkshake!'' and also appeared as Jenny in the pre-school series ''Beachcomber Bay''. The ''Jennings'' series is a collection of novels written by Anthony Buckeridge (1912–2004) as children's literature about the humorous escapades of J.C.T. Jennings, a schoolboy at Linbury Court Preparatory school (United Kingdom), preparatory school in England. There are 24 novels in the series, excluding reprints and other material. The first of the series, Jennings Goes to School, appeared in 1950, and new titles were published regularly until the mid-1970s (including ''Jennings at Large'', published in 1977, the only novel to feature Jennings during the school holidays).
