Grover C. Talbot
Grover Cleveland Talbot (April 23, 1885 – December 21, 1935) was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for Delaware County from 1925 to 1934 and as the 70th Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1933 to 1934. Early life and education Talbot was born in East Coventry Township, Pennsylvania and attended public schools in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After high school, he worked in the Talbot Coal Company owned by his father and as a lumberman in North Carolina. In 1914, he moved back to Pennsylvania and worked as director of the Tinicum Bank in Essington, Pennsylvania. He also worked as a director of the Essington Bank & Loan and the Norwood Bank & Loan. He served as first sergeant in company G of the Pennsylvania Reserve Militia from 1918 to 1919 during World War I. Pennsylvania Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is the highest court in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Unified Judicial System. It also claims to be the oldest appellate court in the United States, a claim that is disputed by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania began in 1684 as the Provincial Court, and casual references to it as the "Supreme Court" of Pennsylvania were made official in 1722 upon its reorganization as an entity separate from the control of the royal governor. Knights Templar (Freemasonry)
The Knights Templar, full name The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta, is a fraternal order affiliated with Freemasonry. Unlike the initial degrees conferred in a regular Masonic Lodge, which (in most Regular Masonic jurisdictions) only require a belief in a Supreme Being regardless of religious affiliation, the Knights Templar is one of several additional Masonic Orders in which membership is open only to Freemasons who profess a belief in Christianity. One of the obligations entrants to the order are required to declare is to protect and defend the Christian faith. The word "United" in its full title indicates that more than one historical tradition and more than one actual order are jointly controlled within this system.
