Earth's Surface
Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. While large volumes of water can be found throughout the Solar System, only Earth sustains liquid surface water. About 71% of Earth's surface is made up of the ocean, dwarfing Earth's polar ice, lakes, and rivers. The remaining 29% of Earth's surface is land, consisting of continents and islands. Earth's surface layer is formed of several slowly moving tectonic plates, which interact to produce mountain ranges, volcanoes, and earthquakes. Earth's liquid outer core generates the magnetic field that shapes the magnetosphere of the Earth, deflecting destructive solar winds. The atmosphere of the Earth consists mostly of nitrogen and oxygen. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere like carbon dioxide (CO2) trap a part of the energy from the Sun close to the surface. Water vapor is widely present in the atmosphere and forms clouds that cover most of the planet. More solar energy is rec ...

Storey
A storey (British English) or story (American English) is any level part of a building with a floor that could be used by people (for living, work, storage, recreation, etc.). Plurals for the word are ''storeys'' (UK) and ''stories'' (US). The terms ''floor'', ''level'', or ''deck'' are used in similar ways, except that it is usual to speak of a "16-''storey'' building", but "the 16th ''floor''". The floor at ground or street level is called the "ground floor" (i.e. it needs no number; the floor below it is called "basement", and the floor above it is called "first") in many regions. However, in some regions, like the U.S., ''ground floor'' is synonymous with ''first floor'', leading to differing numberings of floors, depending on region – even between different national varieties of English. The words ''storey'' and ''floor'' normally exclude levels of the building that are not covered by a roof, such as the terrace on the rooftops of many buildings. Nevertheless, a flat r ...

Connected (Stereo MCs Album)
''Connected'' is a 1992 album by Stereo MC's. The tracks "Connected", "Ground Level", " Step It Up" and "Creation" became hit singles. Critical reception In a contemporary review for ''The Village Voice'', music critic Robert Christgau said that, although its music is amiable and rhythmic, ''Connected'' is also "so multifaceted that its functionality is fungible and forgettable." In June 2000, '' Q'' placed ''Connected'' as #52 in its list of the ''100 Greatest British Albums Ever''. The album won ''Best British Album'' at the 1994 Brit Awards, was shortlisted for the 1993 Mercury Prize, and included in the book ''1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die''. Track listing All songs written by Robert Birch (Rob B)/Nicholas Hallam (The Head), except where noted # "Connected" (Birch/Hallam/ H.W. Casey/ Richard Finch) – 5:14 #*Contains a sample from "Let Me (Let Me Be Your Lover)" by Jimmy "Bo" Horne. # "Ground Level" – 4:13 # "Everything" (Birch/Hallam/James L. Worthy) â ...

Altitude Above Ground Level
In aviation, atmospheric sciences and broadcasting, a height above ground level (AGL or HAGL) is a height measured with respect to the underlying ground surface. This is as opposed to height above mean sea level (AMSL or HAMSL), height above ellipsoid (HAE, as reported by a GPS receiver), or height above average terrain (AAT or HAAT, in broadcast engineering). In other words, these expressions (AGL, AMSL, HAE, AAT) indicate where the "zero level" or "reference altitude" - the vertical datum - is located. Aviation A pilot flying an aircraft under instrument flight rules (typically under poor visibility conditions) must rely on the aircraft's altimeter to decide when to deploy the undercarriage and prepare for landing. Therefore, the pilot needs reliable information on the height of the plane with respect to the landing area (usually an airport). The altimeter, which is usually a barometer calibrated in units of distance instead of atmospheric pressure, can therefore be set in su ...

Ground-level Ozone
Ground-level ozone (O3), also known as surface-level ozone and tropospheric ozone, is a trace gas in the troposphere (the lowest level of the Earth's atmosphere), with an average concentration of 20–30 parts per billion by volume (ppbv), with close to 100 ppbv in polluted areas. Ozone is also an important constituent of the stratosphere, where the ozone layer (2 to 8 parts per million ozone) exists which is located between 10 and 50 kilometers above the Earth's surface. The troposphere extends from the ground up to a variable height of approximately 14 kilometers above sea level. Ozone is least concentrated in the ground layer (or planetary boundary layer) of the troposphere. Ground-level or tropospheric ozone is created by chemical reactions between NOx gases (oxides of nitrogen produced by combustion) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The combination of these chemicals in the presence of sunlight form ozone. Its concentration increases as height above sea level increases, ...

Ground-level Power Supply
Ground-level power supply, also known as surface current collection or, in French, ''alimentation par le sol'' ("feeding via the ground"), is a concept and group of technologies whereby electric vehicles collect electric power at ground level from individually-powered segments instead of the more common overhead lines. Ground-level power supply has been used primarily for aesthetic reasons. During the late 2010s it has become more economical than overhead lines. Ground-level power supply systems date back to the beginning of electric tramways, with some of the earliest such systems using conduit current collection. Since the turn of the 21st century, new systems such as the Alstom APS, Ansaldo Tramwave, CAF ACR, Elways, and others have been introduced which use modern technology to address some of the limitations and dangers of the older systems, and supply power for buses, trucks, and electric cars. With the increased efficiency and energy density of capacitor and battery powe ...
