Richard Nelson "Oz" Griebel (June 21, 1949 – July 29, 2020) was an American banker, lawyer, and political candidate. He ran as a Republican primary candidate in the 2010 Connecticut gubernatorial election, and as an independent in the 2018 gubernatorial election. Early life and education Richard Nelson Griebel was born in Camden, New Jersey. His nickname, "Oz", was a reference to his middle name being the same as the surname of the Nelson family on ''The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet''. Griebel graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dartmouth College, where he played baseball and football for the Dartmouth Big Green. George Henry Griebel
George Henry Griebel (13 August 1846 – March 1933) was a prominent Berlin-born and trained architect who resided in New York City. He designed numerous public and private buildings, many of which are still standing in New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. However, because at the time an architect did not receive credit for his work unless he owned his own firm, Griebel is largely uncredited for buildings such as the Dakota Building and other luxury apartment buildings in New York City, a staircase in the Library of Congress, the design for Grant's Row, planned as the home of embassies in Washington, DC, and many other buildings. Tekla Griebel-Wandall (26 February 1866 – 28 June 1940) was a Denmark, Danish composer and music educator. Biography Tekla Griebel was born in Randers, Denmark, the daughter of Theodor Johan Heinrich Griebel (1829–1900) and teacher Camilla Joachimine Andresen (1829–91). She began her musical studies at the age of seven, taking piano lessons from her father. Later she took singing lessons, and at the age of fifteen, she was admitted to Draw School for Women where she studied to be a figurative artist. However, she was more interested in music, and in 1886 she wrote her first opera ''Don Juan de Marana'' (eventually performed in 1931). At the age of sixteen, Tekla Griebel-Wandall began teaching piano, and from 1889-1891 she studied voice, piano, composition and theory at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Jørgen Malling and Orla Rosenhoff. Sophia Griebel
Sophia Griebel (born 7 June 1990) is a German skeleton racer who has raced at the Winter Olympics and the Skeleton World Cup. She started racing skeleton in 2005 and was selected to the German national team in 2008; she was a luger before switching to skeleton. Her personal coach is Christian Baude and she uses an FES sled. Away from sport, she works for the German Federal Police. Griebel was injured in 2016 and spent 18 months recovering before returning to the World Cup circuit in November 2017, but after poor showings in the season's first two races, she was replaced on the German World Cup squad by Anna Fernstädt. He was the Director General of the Bavarian State Library (''Bayerische Staatsbibliothek'' or BSB) from 2004 to 2014. Griebel is the BSB's Partner Representative in OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), which is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat—the OCLC Online Union Catalog. Harald Griebel (born 1939 or 1940) is a German retired sports marketing businessman. Griebel was employed by Cesar Lüthi at CWL Telesport and Marketing, Infront Sports & Media and Kirch Group. He worked to market and develop the Ice Hockey World Championships on behalf of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). He was involved in the top division of each World Championship from 1981 to 2008, and other lower divisions and qualifying tournaments for ice hockey at the Olympic Games. He retired at age 68 after the 2008 IIHF World Championship.
