Grethe Meyer
Grethe Henriette Kjældgaard Meyer (8 April 1918 – 25 June 2008) was a Danish architect and designer. She had her own design studio from 1960 where she designed products for the home, including cutlery. Her dinnerware designs for Royal Copenhagen had a simple, timeless look. She inspired many female architects and designers, pushing open the door to gender equality in the design industry. Most productive in the late 1940s-70s, she focused not only on her pieces but on the consumers, noting that she wanted to produce high quality items that people could afford. Her work is exhibited internationally. Biography Born on 8 April 1918 in Svendborg, she was the daughter of Peter Christian Meyer, a director, and Meta Kirstine Kjældgaard, a pianist. Royal Copenhagen
Royal Copenhagen, officially the Royal Porcelain Factory ( da, Den Kongelige Porcelænsfabrik), is a Danish manufacturer of porcelain products and was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 under the protection of Danish Dowager Queen Juliane Marie. It is recognized by its factory mark, the three wavy lines above each other, symbolizing Denmark's three straits: Storebælt, Lillebælt and Øresund. Early years Starting in the 17th century, Europeans, long fascinated by the blue and white porcelain exported from China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, began to imitate the precious ware. The Royal Copenhagen manufactory's operations began in a converted post office in 1775. It was founded by chemist Frantz Heinrich Müller who was given a 50-year monopoly to create porcelain. The Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal ( da, Thorvald Bindesbøll Medaljen) is an award granted annually by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for excellence in the fields of applied art and industrial design. Benedikte Hansen
Benedikte Hansen (born 24 September 1958) is a Danish actress, best known to international audiences for her role as Hanne Holm in the television series ''Borgen''. Hansen is the daughter of Dr Flemming Hansen (died 2003) and his wife Aase Riegels Borch. She trained as an actress at Denmark's Statens Teaterskole, and has appeared on stage at the Royal Danish Theatre, Copenhagen. From 1983 to 1993, she was married to actor and director Gerz Feigenberg; the marriage ended in divorce. She subsequently married Laws Michael Christiansen; that marriage also ended in divorce. She subsequently had a relationship with actor Viggo Sommer, which ended amicably in 2017. Following their break-up, Sommer said that the main problem was that "Benner", as he called Hansen, was living in Copenhagen while he was living in Aarhus.
