Gregory Hutchinson (musician)
Gregory Hutchinson (born June 16, 1970) is an American jazz drummer. Biography Hutchinson's father was a drummer in a reggae band, and he played with his father while growing up. He studied under Marvin "Smitty" Smith and Kenny Washington in the late 1980s, and began his career playing with Red Rodney in 1989–1990. Steve Wilson (jazz Musician)
Steve Wilson (born February 9, 1961) is an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, who is best known in the musical community as a flutist and an alto and soprano saxophonist. He also plays the clarinet and the piccolo. Wilson performs on many different instruments and has performed and recorded on over twenty-five albums. His interests include folk, jazz, classical, world music, and experimental music. Wilson is currently on the faculty of New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. He was elected as an American Champion by the National Flute Association. Wilson has maintained a busy career working as a session musician, and has contributed to many musicians of note both in the recording studios, but as a sideman on tours. Rodney Whitaker
Rodney Whitaker (born February 22, 1968) is an American jazz double bass player and educator. Biography Born in Detroit, Whitaker attended Wayne State University, and studied with Robert Gladstone, principal bass with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. He achieved recognition performing with Terence Blanchard's Quintet and then with Roy Hargrove. His own first album ''Children of the Light'' was released in 1996. His score for the film ''China'', directed by Jeff Wray, was released on PBS in 2002. In 2006, Whitaker was nominated for the Juno Award Traditional Jazz Album of the Year for ''Let Me Tell You About My Day'', his album in collaboration with Phil Dwyer and Alan Jones. Kristin Korb
Kristin Korb is an American jazz double bassist and vocalist. Biography Korb studied at Eastern Montana College and the University of California, San Diego. She also studied with Ray Brown, with whom she made her recording debut, released in 1996. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2002, she has performed across North America. She taught at Azuza Pacific and University Southern California, where she was coordinator of vocal jazz studies. Jimmy Smith (musician)
James Oscar Smith (December 8, 1925 – February 8, 2005) was an American jazz musician whose albums often appeared on ''Billboard'' magazine charts. He helped popularize the Hammond B-3 organ, creating a link between jazz and 1960s soul music. In 2005, Smith was awarded the NEA Jazz Masters Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the highest honor that America bestows upon jazz musicians. Ben Wolfe
Benjamin Jonah Wolfe is an American jazz bassist who has performed in groups with Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., and Diana Krall. He is currently on the teaching faculty at The Juilliard School Jazz Division. Career Wolfe was born in Baltimore and raised in Portland, Oregon. He was a member of his high school band, playing tuba and trombone, and a member of pop music groups in which he played bass guitar. In college he started playing double bass, with some lessons from Ray Brown. In the mid-1980s he went to New York City, where he played with Junior Cook, Dakota Staton, and Duke Jordan. He formed a duo with Harry Connick Jr. in 1988 and became a member of Connick's big band. Claire Martin, OBE (born 6 September 1967) is an English jazz singer. Music career Martin was born in Colliers Wood, London. She grew up in a house "full of music" thanks to jazz-loving parents. She cites Ella Fitzgerald's ''Song Books'' as the inspiration to study singing at the Doris Holford Stage School and in New York and London. Her professional career began at the age of 19 when she sang in a hotel band in at the Savoy Hotel after auditioning to be a bluecoat Bournemouth. Peter Andrew Bernstein (born September 3, 1967) is an American jazz guitarist. Biography Born in New York City on September 3, 1967, Bernstein began playing piano when he was eight but switched to guitar when he was thirteen, learning the instrument primarily by ear. He studied jazz at Rutgers University with Ted Dunbar, and Kenny Barron. While a student at the New School in New York City, he met guitarist Jim Hall, who offered him a job performing at the JVC Jazz Festival in 1990.
