Gregorio López (writer)
Gregorio López Fuentes (born 25 November 1897? - ) was a Mexican novelist, poet, and journalist. He was one of the leading chroniclers of the Mexican Revolution. He came in contact with the Indians, farmers, and labourers of the region, whose lives he later described in his works. After unsuccessful efforts at poetry and novels, he began to draw upon his experiences in the Mexican Revolution. Later on, he became a teacher of literature at a school in Mexico City. In 1921 he began writing for the ''El Universal (Mexico City), El Universal'' often under the Tulio F. Peseenz pseudonym. His stories were seen as exciting, humorous, and symbolic of Mexico. A Literary realism, realist, many of his works concerned the oppression of Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Native Americans. He was a contemporary of Mariano Azuela and Martín Luis Guzmán. Gregorio López (jurist)
Gregorio López (Guadalupe, Cáceres, Guadalupe, Cáceres, Spain 1496 - 1560) was a president of the Consejo de Indias, humanist, jurist and lawyer. López most important work is an annotated edition of the Siete Partidas published for the first time in 1555. The ''Siete Partidas'' is a legal code divided into seven parts (''partidas'') compiled under the reign of Alfonso X the Wise, and which was followed for centuries in Spain, Latin America, and the United States. It was considered to be the authentic text of the medieval work of the Kingdom of Castile, Castilian king. The annotated copy contains López certification as of September 7, 1555 that it is a true copy of the earlier text; however, no one has established which manuscript or manuscripts were used for the edition. López served as mayor of the ''Puebla de Guadalupe'', a municipality in the province of Cáceres, Spain, Cáceres. He married the niece of Conquistador Francisco Pizarro. Luo Wenzao
Luo Wenzao, O.P. (alternately: Lou Wenzao, Lo Wen-Tsao, Lo Wenzao, ) (1616 – February 27, 1691) became the first Chinese priest in 1656 and the first Chinese Bishop in 1685. He was also known as Gregory Lopez ( es, Gregorio Lopez) in the Philippines. Biography Luo Wenzao was born in Fu'an, in the province of Fujian. In 1633 Luo was baptized and converted to Catholicism. After studying theology in Manila, he returned to Xiamen. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1654 and thereafter baptized over two thousand converts. In 1673, Pope Clement X made him Bishop but he refused. Then in 1679 Pope Innocent XI appointed him a second time and he was forced to accept. After his consecration in 1685, the provinces Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan were under him.
