Egidio Grego
Egidio Grego (23 January 1894 – 23 November 1917) was an Italian soldier and aviator who was awarded four medals for military valor, two of which were Silver Medal of Military Valor. Biography Egidio Grego was born in 1894 into an Italian family in the Istrian town of Orsera. At the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 he was called up by the Austro-Hungarian army, and sent to the officer cadet school in Gorizia. When Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary on 24 May 1915, Grego deserted and, together with his cousin Ernesto Gramaticopulo, swam across the Italian-Austrian border through the Judrio river. Once he reached Bologna he enlisted in the ''Regio Esercito'' and for security reasons changed his name. Framed in the 35th infantry regiment of the "Pistoia" Brigade, in July 1915, during the first battle of the Isonzo, Grego fought on the Austrian bridgehead of Podgora earning himself a bronze medal for bravery. Jim Grego (born November 8, 1955) is an American politician. He is a Republican representing the 17th district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Political career In 2018, the former State Representative for District 17, Brian Renegar was unable to run for reelection due to term limits, and Grego ran for the open seat. Grego came in second in a five-way Republican primary, advancing to a runoff against Joshua Hass, which he won. He went on to defeat Peggy DeFrange in the general election. Joseph Grego (23 September 1843 – 24 January 1908) was an art collector and exhibitor, author and journalist, inventor and graphics expert. Family origins and company directorships He was born in 1843, at 23 Granville Square, Clerkenwell, London, the elder son of Joseph Grego (1817–1881) and his wife Louisa Emelia Dawley. His grandfather, Antonio Grego, a native of Como in Italy, settled in London before 1821 as a looking-glass manufacturer, the firm becoming Susan Grego and Sons in 1839, and Charles & Joseph Grego in 1845. Laura Grego is an American physicist specializing in nuclear safety and security and space policy. She is a senior scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists, where she is research director of the Global Security Program. Education and career Grego graduated from the University of Michigan in 1992, with a double major in physics and astronomy. She continued studying astrophysics at the California Institute of Technology, where she completed her Ph.D. in 1999. Her dissertation research concerned the Sunyaev–Zeldovich effect and its application in calibrating the cosmic distance ladder and measuring galaxy clusters, supervised by John Carlstrom.
