Greg Young (footballer)
Gregory James Young (born 25 April 1983) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Rossington Main. Young started his career with Sheffield Wednesday's youth system and after being released in 2002 he joined Grimsby Town of the First Division. He made his first-team debut on the last day of the 2002–03 season with the team having already been relegated. Young suffered a second relegation the following season, in which he made 19 appearances. In 2004–05, he spent two periods on loan at Conference National club Northwich Victoria before joining Halifax Town in 2005. He made 35 appearances for Halifax in 2005–06 and started in the 2006 Conference National play-off final at the Walkers Stadium, which was lost to Hereford United. Following loans with former club Northwich and Conference North club Alfreton Town, he joined Altrincham in early 2008. Greg Young is an American basketball coach who is currently the associate head coach for the Troy Trojans. He was most recently the head coach of the UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team. Playing career A three-sport athlete in high school, Young played college basketball at Howard Payne University where he was a four-year letterman and senior captain. Coaching career After graduating from college in 1986, Young would spend the next four years as an assistant coach at Texas Wesleyan before returning to his hometown as an assistant at Cleburne High School for a single season. He returned to the college ranks as an assistant at Eastern New Mexico before landing his first head coaching job at Lamar Community College in Colorado. After four seasons with the Runnin' Lopes, Young took the head coaching position at Hill College where he stayed for two seasons before becoming an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas State for Dennis Nutt.
