Greg Sczebel
Greg Sczebel (born September 6, 1984), known as SEBELL, is a two-time Juno Award-winning independent singer-songwriter originally from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. He is a two-time grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a winner in the Billboard Worldwide Song Competition and was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. In 2006 Sczebel was a special guest performer on CMT's "Paul Brandt's Christmas in Banff." In 2008 Sczebel joined Brandt's touring band and has performed with him regularly, playing keyboards and singing backing vocals. Sczebel has performed with Brandt at the 2008 Canada Day Celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, on numerous televised Canadian award shows (CCMA's, Junos), and most recently for Prince William and Kate Middleton during their visit to Canada. ''Here to Stay'' is the debut album by Greg Sczebel. The album won the Juno Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2005. ''Here to Stay'' also won two Shai Awards in 2005, for Contemporary/Pop Album of the Year, and Urban/Soul Album of the Year. In addition the album won the Outstanding Christian Recording award at the 2005 Western Canadian Music Awards. The Shai 2005 Song of the Year award went to "In the Pocket". Salmon Arm
Salmon Arm is a city in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District of the Southern Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia that has a population of 17,706 (2016). Salmon Arm was incorporated as a municipal district on May 15, 1905. The city of Salmon Arm separated from the district in 1912, but was downgraded to a village in 1958. In 1970, the city of Salmon Arm once again reunited with the District Municipality. Salmon Arm once again became a city in 2005, and is now the location of the head offices of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District. It is a tourist town in the summer, with many beaches, camping facilities and house boat rentals. Salmon Arm is home to the longest wooden freshwater wharf in North America. The ''Western Canadian Music Awards'' (WCMAs) are an annual awards event for music in the western portion of Canada. The Juno Awards of 2005 were held 3 April at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba and were hosted by comedian Brent Butt. Avril Lavigne and k-os won three awards each, while Billy Talent and Feist (band), Feist won 2 apiece. Nominations were announced 7 February 2005. The Tragically Hip were this year's Canadian Music Hall of Fame recipient. Dan Aykroyd was originally scheduled to present this honour, but inexplicably cancelled several days before the awards ceremony. Sarah Harmer presented the Hall of Fame award in his place. Both Aykroyd and Harmer have ties to the Kingston, Ontario community in which The Tragically Hip are based. Neil Young was scheduled to appear at these awards, based on a promise that he would attend if the ceremonies were held in Winnipeg.
