Greg Olson (baseball)
Gregory William Olson (born September 6, 1960) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a catcher from 1989 to 1993 for the Minnesota Twins and the Atlanta Braves. Olson was selected to the 1990 National League All-Star team and appeared in the 1991 World Series with the Braves. Baseball career Olson was born in Marshall, Minnesota attended Edina High School. He later attended the University of Minnesota and, was drafted in the 7th round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets. In 1992, Olson was having a career year until a collision with Ken Caminiti of the Houston Astros broke his right leg. Olson played one more year for Atlanta before being released in the off season to make room for rising prospect Javy López. Gregor Alan Olson (born March 1, 1963) is an American football coach who is the senior offensive assistant with the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He has been an offensive coordinator for six different National Football League (NFL) teams, the Detroit Lions from 2004 to 2005, the St. Louis Rams from 2006 to 2007, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2008 to 2011, the Oakland Raiders from 2013 to 2014, the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2015 to 2016, and the Oakland / Las Vegas Raiders from 2018 to 2021. During 2017, Olson served as the Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach replacing Chris Weinke. In 2018, Olson returned to Oakland to be their offensive coordinator, reuniting him with former mentee quarterback Derek Carr. Greggory William Olson (born October 11, 1966) is an American former professional baseball player, coach, scout and television sports commentator. He played in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher from through , most prominently as a member of the Baltimore Orioles where he established himself as one of the premier relief pitchers in the American League (AL). Olson was named the AL Rookie of the Year in , his first full season in the major leagues and, the following season was named to his only American League All-Star team. He set an Orioles team record of 41 consecutive scoreless innings and, he holds the team record for career saves.
