AllMusic
AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guide' ...

Hummin' To Myself (Linda Ronstadt Album)
''Hummin’ to Myself'' is the twenty-fourth studio album by American singer, songwriter, and producer Linda Ronstadt. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart where it remained for six months. It peaked at #166 on the main ''Billboard'' album chart. It was her final solo album before her retirement in 2011, though she would record one more collaborative album in 2006 titled ''Adieu False Heart''. History ''Hummin' to Myself'' represents a return by Ronstadt to the classic jazz standards world she explored in a series of 1980s albums with Nelson Riddle, only this time with a band, not an orchestra, and in an overtly jazz manner. According to an interview with Ronstadt, the songs on the album were among those she wanted to record with Riddle, but was unable to because of his death. Ronstadt sings songs by Frank Loesser (“Never Will I Marry” and “I’ve Never Been in Love Before”) and Cole Porter (“Get out of Town,” “Miss Otis Regrets), and “ ...

The Judy Garland Show
''The Judy Garland Show'' is an American Variety show, musical variety television series that aired on CBS on Sunday nights during the 1963–1964 television season. Despite a sometimes stormy relationship with Judy Garland, CBS had found success with several television specials featuring the star. Garland, who for years had been reluctant to commit to a weekly series, saw the show as her best chance to pull herself out of severe financial difficulties. Despite it being cancelled relatively early on, it is now revered and considered an important piece of television history. Production difficulties beset the series almost from the beginning. The series had three different producers in the course of its 26 episodes and went through a number of other key personnel changes. With the change in producers also came changes to the show's format, which started as comedy and Variety show, variety but switched to an almost purely concert format. (In fact, as of episode 20, the on-screen ti ...

Nancy Wilson And Cannonball Adderley
''Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley'' is a studio album by Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley issued in February 1962 by Capitol Records. The album rose to No. 30 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. Overview Wilson considered her vocals on the album "as a sort of easy-going third horn" (Wilson quoted in the liner notes). All tracks were recorded in New York City, those with Wilson on June 27 and 29, 1961, and the instrumental tracks on August 23 and 24, 1961. Reception ''The Penguin Guide to Jazz'' states: "The odd session out is the date with Nancy Wilson for Capitol, primarily designed as a showcase for the young singer but with five band-only tracks as well. Wilson had a self-conscious phrasing and melodramatic lighting-up of key lines - but there is a version of 'A Sleeping Bee' here which is one of the most charming of all her recordings, and Cannon and the others play personably throughout." The AllMusic review by David Nathan concluded: "Given the play list and the outs ...
