John Campbell Greenway
John Campbell Greenway (July 6, 1872 – January 19, 1926) was an American businessman and senior officer of the U.S. Army Reserve who served with Colonel Theodore Roosevelt in the Spanish–American War and commanded infantry in World War I. He was the late husband of U.S. congresswoman Isabella Greenway. Early life and education John Campbell Greenway was born in Huntsville, Alabama, to Dr. Gilbert C. and Alice White Greenway. Isabella Greenway
Isabella Dinsmore Greenway (née Selmes; born March 22, 1886 – December 18, 1953) was an American politician who was the first congresswoman in Arizona history, and as the founder of the Arizona Inn of Tucson. During her life she was also noted as a one-time owner and operator of Los Angeles-based Gilpin Airlines, a speaker at the 1932 Democratic National Convention, and a bridesmaid at the wedding of Eleanor and Franklin D. James Greenway
James Cowan Greenway (April 7, 1903 – June 10, 1989) was an American ornithologist. An eccentric, shy, and often reclusive man, his survey of extinct and vanishing birds provided the base for much subsequent work on bird conservation. Early years Greenway was born in New York City, though grew up on the Lauder Greenway Estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his brothers G. Lauder Greenway and Gilbert Greenway, as the son of James Greenway Sr., founder of the Yale School of Public Health. He is also a grandson of George Lauder and a great-grandson of George Lauder, Sr. He was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, graduating in 1922, and graduated from Yale University in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mark Andrew "Barney" Greenway (born 13 July 1969) is a British extreme metal vocalist who is the current lead singer of Napalm Death and a former member of Extreme Noise Terror and Benediction. Brian Gilbert Greenway (born October 1, 1951) is a Canadian guitarist, vocalist and harmonicist, most notable for playing in the rock bands April Wine, Mashmakhan, and the Dudes. Greenway performed with April Wine from 1977 to 1986 when the band split, and again from 1992 to the present day. After April Wine broke up in 1986, Greenway embarked on a solo career and recorded his debut album ''Serious Business'' which continued the traditional April Wine mix of hard rock and ballads. It is often said that Greenway is responsible for giving April Wine a "harder edged" sound. Charles Greenway, 1st Baron Greenway (13 June 1857 – 17 December 1934), known as Sir Charles Greenway, 1st Baronet, from 1919 to 1927, was a British businessman. Greenway was the son of John David Greenway of Taunton in Somerset. He was a senior partner in the firm of Shaw Wallace & Co of India and Ceylon and of R. G. Shaw & Co of London. He became associated with the Burmah Oil Company, and later joined forces with William Knox D'Arcy, of the Mount Morgan Mining Company, in developing the oil concessions d'Arcy had won from the Persian government. Together, and with capital from the British Government, they founded the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, which made the Empire largely independent of other powers in the supply of petroleum, which had become of vital strategic importance. John Greenway (15 December 1919 – 15 October 1991) was born Johannes Groeneweg in Liverpool, England. He was a noted author, singer and scholar who focused on American folk songs of protest. Academic career He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, where his dissertation was on "American Folksongs of Social and Economic Protest." It was later published a''American Folksongs of Protest''(University of Pennsylvania Press 1953), which was the standard work in the field for 40 years.
