Greenville Senior High School (Greenville, South Carolina)
Greenville Senior High School (also known as Greenville Senior High Academy, GHS, GSHS, Greenville Senior High Academy of Law, Finance, and Business, and Greenville High Academy) is a medium-sized secondary school and magnet school located in Greenville, South Carolina. Traditions and extracurriculars Greenville has a rivalry with J.L. Mann High School. During "spirit week", a week-long charity event typically held in September, Greenville and J.L. Mann compete to raise more money than each other through extracurricular school events and activities. At the end of spirit week, a football game between the two schools is held, during which the amount of money both schools raised is revealed at the half. Douglas Leigh
Douglas Leigh (May 24, 1907 – December 14, 1999) was an American advertising executive and lighting designer, and a pioneer in signage and outdoor advertising. He is famous for making New York City's Times Square the site of some of the world's most famous neon signs, or electric billboards. Leigh also designed the colored lighting scheme for the Empire State Building. Biography After financing his education at the University of Florida by buying the exclusive right to sell advertising for the yearbook, Leigh became a top salesman for a sign company in Birmingham. In 1929, he moved to New York and got a job at the General Outdoor Advertising Company, but quit in 1933 to strike out on his own. Herman Lay
Herman Warden Lay (March 6, 1909 – December 6, 1982) was an American businessman who was involved in potato chip manufacturing with his eponymous brand of Lay's potato chips. He started H.W. Lay Co., Inc., now part of the Frito-Lay corporation, a subsidiary of PepsiCo. By 1937, he had 25 employees, and had begun producing his own line of snack foods. The H.W.
