Harold Lloyd Estate
The Harold Lloyd Estate, also known as Greenacres, is a large mansion and landscaped estate located in the Benedict Canyon section of Beverly Hills, California. Built in the late 1920s by silent film star Harold Lloyd, it remained Lloyd's home until his death in 1971. The estate originally consisted of a 44-room mansion, golf course, outbuildings, and canoe run on . Greenacres has been called "the most impressive movie star's estate ever created." After Lloyd died, the acreage in the lower part of the estate along Benedict Canyon was subdivided into approximately 15 large home lots. Greenacres is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. Situated in the east-central portion of the county, Greenacres is located northwest of Atlantis, east of Wellington, and borders Palm Springs to its east. As of the 2010 United States census, the city had a population of 37,573 people, up from 27,569 at the 2000 census. The Census Bureau estimated that 41,117 people reside in Greenacres as of 2019. Louis Nippert (December 24, 1903 – November 16, 1992) was an American attorney, and majority owner of the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB) from January 1973 to February 1981. Biography Nippert was born in Cincinnati in 1903, a great-grandson of James Gamble, a founder of Procter & Gamble. Nippert attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and earned his law degree in 1928. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1971. He worked as an attorney, and served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, having won election in November 1928 and November 1930 as a Republican candidate representing Hamilton County. In December 1966, Nippert bought into the Cincinnati Reds as part of the ownership group led by Francis L. Dale. He bought majority control of the franchise in January 1973. Louise Dieterle Nippert (August 27, 1911 – July 23, 2012) was an American businesswoman who was owner of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, as well as a patron of the arts and a performer with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Cincinnati Reds Nippert, along with her husband Louis Nippert, became majority owner of the Reds in 1973, after having an ownership interest in the team since 1966.
