Rafael Gil
Rafael Gil (22 May 1913 – 10 July 1986) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. His film ''La guerra de Dios'' (1953) won the Bronze Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1953 and also won best film and best director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. His film ''La noche del sábado'' (1950) was nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1950 Venice Film Festival and his film ''El beso de Judas'' (1954) was also nominated for the Gold Lion at the 1954 festival in Venice. His film ''Let's Make the Impossible!'' (1958) was nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has won nine prizes of the National Syndicate of Spectacle of Spain. Gil was a prominent director of the Franco era. Carlos Larrañaga
Carlos Larrañaga Ladrón de Guevara (11 March 1937 – 30 August 2012) was a Spanish actor. Biography Personal life Larrañaga was born in Barcelona to actress María Fernanda Ladrón de Guevara, and was the half-brother of actress Amparo Rivelles. He was the father of Amparo Larrañaga, Pedro Larrañaga and Luis Merlo, all actors, and the father-in-law of actress Maribel Verdú. Career His film debut was in 1941, at age four, in '' Alma de Dios'', directed by Ignacio F. Iquino. His first success was in 1950 with '' Pequeñeces'', directed by Juan de Orduña. He had a major supporting role in ''The Pride and the Passion'' with Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren and then starred in ''Ha llegado un ángel'' and '' El extraño viaje'', among other films. Xavier Montsalvatge i Bassols (; 11 March 1912 – 7 May 2002) was a Spanish composer and music critic. He was one of the most influential music figures in Catalan music during the latter half of the 20th century. Biography Life Montsalvatge was born in Girona, and studied violin and composition at the Barcelona Conservatory. His principal teachers were Lluís Maria Millet, Enric Morera, Jaume Pahissa, and Eduard Toldrà. After the Spanish Civil War, Montsalvatge began work as a music critic when he joined the weekly ''Destino'' in 1942, a publication he would eventually direct in 1968 and 1975. He wrote additionally for the daily ''La Vanguardia'' after 1962. Montsalvatge also returned to teach at his alma mater, becoming a lecturer in 1970, and then a professor of composition in 1978.
