Green Book (film)
''Green Book'' is a 2018 American biographical comedy-drama film directed by Peter Farrelly. Starring Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, the film is inspired by the true story of a 1962 tour of the Deep South by African American pianist Don Shirley and Italian American bouncer and later actor Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga, who served as Shirley's driver and bodyguard. Written by Farrelly alongside Lip's son Nick Vallelonga and Brian Hayes Currie, the film is based on interviews with Lip and Shirley, as well as letters Lip wrote to his then-wife. It is named after ''The Negro Motorist Green Book'', a guide book for African American travelers published by Victor Hugo Green from 1936 to 1966. ''Green Book'' had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2018, where it won the People's Choice Award. The Green Book (IRA)
The Green Book is a training and induction manual issued by the Irish Republican Army to new volunteers. It was used by the post-Irish Civil War Irish Republican Army (IRA) and Cumann na mBan, (''"League of Women"''), along with later incarnations such as the Provisional IRA (IRA). It includes a statement of military objectives, tactics and conditions for military victory against the British government. This military victory was to be achieved as part of ''"the ongoing liberation of Ireland from foreign occupiers"''. The Word list of the Dutch language ( nl, Woordenlijst Nederlandse Taal ) is a spelling dictionary of the Dutch language (Dutch orthography). It is officially established by the Dutch Language Union (). Because of the colour of its published form, it is better known as the Green Booklet (). Editions The Green Booklet is published by Sdu in the Netherlands and Lannoo in Flanders. It is available in a paper edition and on CD-ROM at a fee; the Dutch Language Union offers a free official internet version of the list. The latest edition was released on 13 October 2015. The Greenbook of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors (called the Greenbook for short) is a book with projections of various economic indicators for the economy of the United States produced by the Federal Reserve Board before each meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee. The projections are referred to as Greenbook projections or Greenbook forecasts. Many of the variables projected coincide with variables covered in the Survey of Professional Forecasters. Details Prior to each meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee, projections are made about macroeconomic indicators for the economy of the United States. The meetings are held at a frequency slightly greater than one a month. These projections are recorded in "Greensheets" and all the Greensheets for a given year are compiled into the Greenbook of that year. ''The Green Book'' is the third studio album by American hip-hop duo Twiztid, released on July 1, 2003. Background In 2003 Twiztid left Psychopathic Records and created Majik Recordz. After the label went under Twiztid returned to Psychopathic Records seamlessly, almost like they never left. Upon returning they recorded "The Green Book". The album was an instant hit with Juggalos, charting at 52 on the Billboard 200. The album features artists: Shaggy 2 Dope, E-40, Esham, Tech N9ne, Violent J, Layzie Bone, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Anybody Killa and Bushwick Bill. It was published by the Story-Press Corporation (later Consolidated Magazines) as a companion to its '' Red Book'' and ''Blue Book'' magazines. ''The Green Book'' ( ar, الكتاب الأخضر ') is a short book setting out the political philosophy of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The book was first published in 1975. It is said to have been inspired in part by ''The Little Red Book'' (''Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung''). Both were widely distributed both inside and outside their country of origin, and "written in a simple, understandable style with many memorable slogans". The BBC Variety Programmes Policy Guide For Writers and Producers, commonly referred to as The Green Book, is a booklet of guidelines, issued by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1949, to the producers and writers of its comedy programmes. It detailed what was then permissible as comedy material, but its bureaucratic tone and outlandish strictures caused great amusement in the comedy world at the time. Most of its content is now completely out of date. It was a confidential document and was kept under lock and key. The executive responsible for its release was the then Head of Variety, Michael Standing, although it contained a large amount of material which had been previously issued, in the preceding years, in memo form.
