Greek Wikipedia
The Greek Wikipedia (also Hellenic Wikipedia, Elliniki Vikipedia, el, Ελληνική Βικιπαίδεια) is the Greek language, Greek-language edition of Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia. It was started on December 1, 2002. It surpassed the 10,000 article mark on May 16, 2006, the 100,000 article mark on April 9, 2014, and the 200,000 article mark on November 27, 2021. As of , , it is the largest Wikipedia, behind and ahead of . Greek Wikipedia is the main free internet encyclopedia written in Greek. Its main competitor, , started on 2004, and had more than 100,000 articles. Many articles of Livepedia were republished articles from donations of various publishing houses and the site was also a wiki. Approximately 250 articles are coming at least partially from Livepedia, thanks to the Livepedia's use of GFDL until November 1, 2008. ''Ta Nea'' ( el, Τα Νέα, italic=yes; Translation: ''The News'') is a daily newspaper published in Athens. It was owned by Lambrakis Press Group (DOL), which also published the newspaper ''To Vima''. The assets of DOL were acquired in 2017 by Alter Ego Media S.A. The newspaper began publishing in 1931 under the title (''Athinaika Nea'', ''Athens News''), with the first issue being released on May 28. After the Axis occupation of Greece, it changed its name simply to "Ta Nea". ''Ta Nea'' has been Greek's best-selling newspaper for decades, although the internet and the financial crisis have affected its circulation. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sister projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. They also exist in different languages, and translation of articles is a form of their collaboration.
