The Greek Super Cup ( el, Σούπερ Καπ Ελλάδος), officially known as the Cup of Friendship and Solidarity ( el, Κύπελλο Φιλίας και Αλληλεγγύης) was a Greek Football (soccer), association football one-match competition which was contested annually by the Super League Greece, Super League champion club and the winners of the Greek football Cup, Greek Cup. The first match took place in 1980 at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus. Then and until 1994, matches were played at Olympic Stadium (Athens), Olympic Stadium, while in 1996 and 2007 they were played at Karaiskakis Stadium. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. Thomas Ahlström
Thomas Ahlström (17 July 1952) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Thomas played for IF Elfsborg between 1971–1979 and 1982–84 and was the top scorer in Allsvenskan year 1983 with 16 goals. In 1979-82 he played in Olympiacos F.C., Greece. Stelios Manolas
Stelios Manolas ( el, Στέλιος Μανωλάς, born 13 July 1961) is a Greek former international football player who played as a centre back for AEK Athens and a manager. Arguably the best Greek defender of his era, being one of the few Greek footballers to have played his entire professional career for a single club. In 2021, IFFHS chose him in the best XI of all time of Greek football. Club career Manolas started football from a young age, playing on the streets and vacant lots in and around the Athens suburb of Galatsi, where he lived during his childhood. In his early teens he, alongside his friend Kostas Antoniou, played for the small amateur club, Aetos Galatsi, where he was discovered by scouts and brought to the attention of AEK Athens. Mirosław Okoński
Mirosław Okoński (born 8 December 1958 in Koszalin) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Okoński started his football career in 1969, in the second division of the Polish league with the team of his hometown, Gwardia Koszalin, which he played to until 1977. He then moved to the first division and Lech Poznań. In 1980 he was transferred to Lech Poznań with which he won the Polish Cup in 1980 and 1981, while from 1982 to 1986 he returned to Lech Poznań. During his career in Poland he was the top scorer once, in 1983, and twice the runner-up in the league. In 1983 and 1984 he won back-to-back championships with Lech Poznan. Takis Karagiozopoulos
Dimitris "Takis" Karagiozopoulos ( el, Τάκης Καραγκιοζόπουλος; born 4 February 1961) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as defender, mostly for AEK Athens. He is famous and beloved to AEK fans for his 12-year presence and for scoring the historic "golden" goal against Olympiacos on 7 May 1989, giving the Championship to AEK after 10 whole years. Club career Karagiozopoulos started playing football for Filippos Melikis and in 1978 he was transferred to Veria, where he played in the position of striker. In 1981 he signed for AEK Athens, playing in the attack for the first two years, until the then coach of AEK, the late Zlatko Čajkovski converted him to the position of defender, after his serious injury Petros Ravousis. Christos Vasilopoulos (footballer)
Christos Vasilopoulos ( el, Χρήστος Βασιλουπουλος; born 12 November 1962) is a former Greek professional footballer who played as a right back. Club career Vasilopoulos started his career at Panachaiki, where he distinguished himself, before he was transferred to AEK Athens in the summer of 1987. He managed to establish himself at the club mainly as a right back, but he was used as a left back, while Dušan Bajević also used him as a sweeper to play one-on-one against the opposition attackers. He was a combative, fast and quite effective defender, who was turned to be a key player for AEK. With the "yellow-blacks", he won 3 championships, a Greek Super Cup in 1989 and the Greek League Cup in 1990, while he was also the captain of the team for the 1992–93 season. Toni Savevski
Toni Savevski ( mk, Тони Савевски; born 14 June 1963) is a Macedonian football player who played as a midfielder. Savevski is widely regarded as one of the best foreign players to have played in the Greek football league. After retiring from as a footballer in 2001 he became manager and managed several clubs in Cyprus, most notably Omonia. Club career Savevski was born in Bitola, SR Macedonia. He started his career in Pelister Bitola and then played for Vardar Skopje, where he won the league in 1987, but due to a point deduction punishment of Partizan was overturned, the title eventually was awarded to the latter. Vangelis Vlachos ( gr, Βαγγέλης Βλάχος; born 6 January 1962) is a Greek former international footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the manager of AE Mykonos Club career Vlachos started his career from the academies of AEK Athens. In 1979 he was promoted to the first team alongside Stelios Manolas and Lysandros Georgamlis. On 26 December 1979, at the age of 17 years and 242 days, he became the then youngest scorer of AEK in the league when he scored 2 goals in a match against Kavala. Eastern European Summer Time (EEST) is one of the names of the UTC+03:00 time zone, which is 3 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. It is used as a summer daylight saving time in some European and Middle Eastern countries, which makes it the same as Arabia Standard Time, East Africa Time, and Moscow Time. Christos "Chris" Kalantzis (born 27 July 1967) is an Australian former soccer player who played at the highest level of domestic football in Greece and Australia. Claus Illemann Nielsen (born 13 January 1964), known as Claus Nielsen, is a Danish former football player in the forward position. He spent the bulk of his career with Brøndby IF, but also played for the Greek club Panathinaikos and the Dutch club FC Twente. Club career Brøndby Nielsen played for Brøndby from July 1984 until July 1988, at the top level 1.Division in Denmark (later renamed Superliga in 1991). With a total appearance in 167 games during his first four years in the club, he was counted on as one of the most regular first team players at the pitch.
